Korean businesses seek to import agricultural and aquatic products from Cà Mau

DNHN - Korean businesses have expressed a desire to import Vietnam's agricultural and aquatic products while also exploring the development of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals using unique materials from Cà Mau.

Welcoming the delegation from the Commercial Affairs Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea along with representatives of South Korean businesses, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Lê Văn Sử, expressed the hope that, in addition to fostering cooperation, South Korean companies would join hands to support Cà Mau province in implementing its temporary housing eradication program.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Lê Văn Sử, emphasized promising sectors such as agricultural and aquatic product exports, tourism development, and carbon credits. Notably, with the largest area of mangrove forests in the Mekong Delta, Cà Mau serves as a significant carbon resource but still requires support in terms of experience and guidance from the central government to implement initiatives effectively. Additionally, the Nino Noni product was introduced as a new investment opportunity, aiming to attract partners for production technology development and increased commercial value.

Regarding tourism, Cà Mau province aims to strengthen connections with South Korean enterprises, particularly by organizing long-term tours to attract visitors to explore the local ecosystems, cuisine, and culture. The Vice Chairman encouraged South Korean businesses to visit the province to better understand its potential and offer suggestions to address challenges in cooperation.

Cà Mau will participate in the Vietnam-South Korea Cultural Exchange Program in Ho Chi Minh City in March 2025. To prepare, the Provincial People’s Committee has tasked departments such as the Department of Industry and Trade and iPEC with organizing unique cultural and culinary activities to leave a strong impression at the event. During the working session, South Korean businesses expressed interest in importing Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products and exploring the development of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals derived from Cà Mau's distinctive materials. Additionally, they showed interest in developing two-way tourism and organizing cultural exchange programs.

The Vice Chairman of the Cà Mau Provincial People's Committee directed relevant departments and agencies to closely coordinate the implementation of specific projects, including building a geographical indication for Cà Mau crabs, promoting trade, and expanding export markets to South Korea. Regarding carbon credits, the province expressed readiness to cooperate as soon as detailed guidance is provided by the central government.

In the coming time, Cà Mau will continue efforts to establish relationships with various levels of South Korean authorities to foster substantive and sustainable cooperation.
