Hanoi’s economy grows 7.92% in first nine months of 2025, FDI surges nearly threefold

Hanoi sustained strong economic growth in the first nine months of 2025, with its Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) expanding by 7.92% year-on-year, according to data from the Hanoi Statistics Office.

Across key sectors, services grew by 8.74%, industry and construction rose 7.03%, while agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 3.43%.

Trade activities also demonstrated solid momentum, with total import-export turnover reaching $50 billion, up 13.7% over the same period last year. Of this, exports advanced 12.1% and imports climbed 14.5%.

The capital continued to stand out as a top destination for foreign direct investment (FDI), attracting over $3.89 billion in registered capital between January and September — nearly three times higher than the same period in 2024. This included 301 newly licensed projects worth more than $307 million.

Meanwhile, total retail sales of goods and consumer services were estimated at VND 702.2 trillion (around $26.49 billion), an increase of 12.9% year-on-year, reflecting vibrant domestic demand and a steady post-pandemic recovery.
