DNHN - On the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year (Spring Binh Ngo 2026), a ceremony was held at the historic Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.
Eighty women entrepreneurs, intellectuals and social activists, together with 20 male entrepreneurs, solemnly participated in an incense-offering and merit-reporting tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh.
The program was organized by the Vietnam - ASEAN Institute for Entrepreneur Development. It carried significant political and social meaning, reaffirming the pioneering role of the business community in accompanying national development, particularly the contribution of women entrepreneurs in building a prosperous and strong Vietnam.
Clad in traditional “Ao dai” and surrounded by the national colors of red and gold, the delegation entered Ba Dinh Square in solemn procession. The incense-offering ceremony was conducted with dignity before the altar of President Ho Chi Minh. In an atmosphere marked by reverence and reflection, participants expressed profound gratitude for his historic contributions to the nation.
The ceremony grew more poignant as People’s Artist Vi Hoa performed a tribute song to President Ho Chi Minh, her emotional rendition serving as a symbolic offering during the nation’s spring season of independence.
Following the incense ritual, the delegation held a formal merit-reporting ceremony. Ms. Luong Thi Kim Xuan, President of the Vietnam - ASEAN Institute for Entrepreneur Development and Chairwoman of the Vietnam - ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Council, introduced at the event as the initiator of a 34-year journey inspired by President Ho Chi Minh’s legacy, officially launched the 2026 action program under the theme: “Gratitude – Continuity – Advancement of Vietnamese Women: 80 Years of Implementing Uncle Ho’s Teachings.”
Beyond its solemnity, the ceremony was imbued with historical reflection. Delegates underscored the enduring significance of the location where, eight decades earlier, President Ho Chi Minh conveyed his first New Year message to the Vietnamese people in the early days of national independence.
From his simple yet profound words emerged a development philosophy centered on building “new people, new life and new ethics”, moral foundations regarded as essential to national and economic progress.
Eighty years ago, amid the immense challenges of a newly established state, President Ho Chi Minh called upon citizens to practice the virtues of “Diligence - Thrift - Integrity - Righteousness,” while emphasizing the vital role of Vietnamese women in fostering a renewed and self-reliant society.
Today, in an era defined by the knowledge economy and global integration, Vietnam’s business community returns to Ba Dinh not only in remembrance but in reaffirmation of its commitment to those principles.
At the ceremony, representatives of the Institute read aloud a collective pledge by the business community: to align enterprise development with social responsibility; to strengthen innovation capacity; to build strong Vietnamese brands in global markets; and to contribute actively to the country’s sustainable and prosperous development. The pledge portrayed an image of patriotic entrepreneurs, economic actors guided by a commitment to national service.
The event concluded with the recitation of the poem “Merit offering to President Ho Chi Minh,” composed by business woman, Ms. Luong Thi Kim Xuan, expressing the aspirations of today’s generation:
In the next five years,
We pledge determination,
To elevate our aspirations,
To reach the world,
To step onto the global stage,
United in purpose,
To build a renewed life,
And strive for success.
From Ba Dinh Square this spring morning, the message resonated clearly: when entrepreneurship is guided by patriotism, and when economic development is anchored in ethics and social responsibility, national strength is sustainably multiplied.
The journey of “building a new life,” first envisioned by President Ho Chi Minh eighty years ago, continues to be carried forward by the intellect, resilience and dedication of Vietnamese women entrepreneurs today, contributing to the vision of a globally integrated and strong Vietnam.
