Microsoft seeks greater cooperation with Vietnam in digitalization

DNHN - The US IT company expects to help Vietnam build up digital skills for both private and state sectors, as well as develop data science.
Microsoft expects to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in digital transformation and cyber-security and help the country realize its goal of net-zero carbon emission by 2050.

Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Operations at Microsoft Asia Pacific Sandy Gupta gave the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 17, expecting this would further contribute to the development of a green and digital economy in Vietnam.
According to Gupta, this century would be the time for Asia to thrive, and Vietnam in this process would be among the key contributors.
At present, Microsoft is making huge investments in new technologies and solutions, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, open-source, and new applications for everyone to access the innovative ecosystem.
He added Vietnam with a young population and dynamic economy is ready to absorb new technologies.
Microsoft expects to build digital skills for everyone in the private and state sectors, as well as to develop data science in Vietnam.
Gupta noted the IT company is working with Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications toward these goals, including technologies to enhance transparency in state operations against corruption.
Prime Minister Chinh congratulated Microsoft for its achievements over the years, especially in supporting countries to implement digitalization programs.
Chinh called for Microsoft to play a more active role in promoting digital Government, society, and citizens in Vietnam.
The prime minister said Vietnam has set up a national committee on digitalization led by himself to push for complete digital transformation in socio-economic aspects.
“The support of Microsoft for Vietnam in the process of digitalization would further contribute to the Vietnam-US relations for shared prosperity and in the spirit of sincerity, responsibility, and credibility,” Chinh added.
Mobilizing technologies and resources from Vietnamese overseas for development
On the same day, Chinh held a meeting with Vietnamese overseas businesses in the US.

The prime minister expressed his gratefulness for the contribution of Vietnamese overseas to Vietnam during the pandemic, showing the solidarity and idiosyncrasy of Vietnamese people to support each other at a difficult time.
Chinh hoped the Vietnamese overseas community would continue to hold the country dear in their hearts and further contribute to the comprehensive Vietnam-US partnership.

At the meeting, the Chairman of Westcoast Precision Inc., Sang Nhin welcomed the visit of the prime minister to the US and expressed his commitment to further contributing to the modernization of Vietnam, a key factor to build an independent and self-reliant economy.
According to Sang Nhin, Westcoast Precision has been operating in the precision machinery industry for 30 years and stands ready to cooperate with local firms in the basic industry.At the meeting, the Chairman of Westcoast Precision Inc., Sang Nhin welcomed the visit of the prime minister to the US and expressed his commitment to further contributing to the modernization of Vietnam, a key factor to build an independent and self-reliant economy.

Nguyen Thi Bich Yen, a researcher in the field of hi-tech, said she is working with Vietnamese engineers around the world to conduct a project on the application of IoT and AI in Vietnam’s agricultural production.
