DNHN - Tourism revenue in the first four months of 2023 is projected to reach 9.1 trillion VND, nearly 2.1 times that of the same period in 2022, as a result of the exciting cultural and tourism activities in many locations during the first months of 2023
Specifically, the revenue of certain municipalities in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period the previous year is as follows: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 84.5 percent; Binh Thuan increased by 75.2 percent; Khanh Hoa increased by 70 percent; Quang Ninh increased by 28.6 percent; Can Tho increased by 15.4 percent; and Lam Dong increased by 11 percent.
Passenger transport increased by 6.9% and passenger turnover increased by 5.7% month-over-month, while freight transport increased by 2.7% and freight turnover increased by 3.7% in April.
In the first four months of 2023, passenger transport increased by 24.6% and turnover increased by 50.2% over the same period the previous year, while freight transport increased by 17.2% and turnover increased by 19.8%.
The estimated number of passengers transported in April 2023 was 388.9 million, a 16.6% increase over the same month last year, and the number of passenger kilometers was 20.6 billion, a 34.6% increase. In the first four months of 2023, passenger transport is anticipated to reach 1,493.9 million passengers, an increase of 24.6% over the same period in 2022 (during the same period in 2022, passenger transport decreased by 6.3%), while passenger-kilometer rotation reached 80.5 billion, an increase of 50.2% (during the same period in 2022, passenger-kilometer rotation decreased by 0.7%).
Domestic transport is estimated at nearly 1,499.5 million passengers, up 24.3% from the same period last year, and 67.1 billion passengers-kilometers rotated, up 28.4%; Overseas transport is estimated at 4.4 million passengers, 13 times higher than the same period last year, and 13.4 billion passengers-kilometers rotated, 10.3 times higher.
In April 2023, it was estimated that there were 984,100 international arrivals in Vietnam, a 9.9% increase over the previous month and a 9.7-fold increase compared to the same month in the previous year.
International visitors to our country in the first four months of 2023 are estimated to have exceeded 3,683,7 thousand, which is 19.2 times higher than the same period last year but only 61.7% higher than the same period in 2019 - the previous year. An outbreak of Covid-19 occurred.
visitors arriving by air reached 3,266.8 thousand arrivals, accounting for 88.7% of the number of international visitors to Vietnam and 19 times the number of international visitors to Vietnam in the same period last year; by road reached 372.9 thousand turns of people, accounting for 10.1% and 17 times higher; by sea reached 44,000 arrivals.
Tourism is a multidisciplinary economic sector, and even though transport is only one component; when transport costs are high, resulting in fewer tourists, it still affects the other links, including lodging, food, and sightseeing. This fact necessitates swift regulation to ensure the tourism industry's sustainable growth.
Mr. Gabor Fluit, President of EuroCham, commented on the tourism and travel industry in the BCI quarter of 1Q02, stating, "The forthcoming reforms to work permit and tourist visa procedures are likely to have a direct impact on growth." We are eager to learn more about these proposed modifications."
