DNHN - On December 16, Ms. Doan Thi Anh Thu, CEO of Vua Cua Trading and Services Joint Stock Company, announced the successful export of a shipment of processed Ca Mau crabs and frozen sea snails to the United States after two years of preparation.
Ms. Anh Thu stated that consumers prefer Ca Mau crabs due to their superior quality compared to many other crab varieties. While some live and steamed Ca Mau crabs are available in the U.S., the newly exported products carry a distinct brand.
The first shipment, initially transported by air to meet holiday demand, consisted of approximately 21,000 Ca Mau crabs, equivalent to 11 tons, destined for 200 points of sale in U.S. markets. The strategic decision to transition to sea freight after Tet (Lunar New Year) aims to optimize costs as frozen products have a 12-month shelf life.
The U.S. partner, CTWS Group, led by Ms. Dziem Chinh, plays a crucial role in the successful import and distribution of Vua Cua products. CTWS Group, with over 20 years of experience, specializes in importing Vietnamese products, particularly traditional and specialty items.
As of now, the retail prices in the U.S. for Ca Mau crab with shell and meat range from 25-27 USD, equivalent to 600,000-650,000 VND per 550-gram box (varying by state), approximately 1.3 million VND per kg. Additionally, sea snails are priced between 19-22 USD per box.
Ca Mau crabs have long been celebrated as a renowned delicacy, both domestically and internationally. In June 2022, the "Ca Mau" crab product received a geographical indication certificate from the Intellectual Property Office.
Looking forward, Vua Cua, despite its startup status, plans to expand its product portfolio by introducing processed products from various Vietnamese seafood, catering to diverse consumer segments.
Ms. Anh Thu expressed the company's bold approach to direct export, deep processing, and brand association, aiming to capture the potential of the export market. Vua Cua envisions that, in the future, 50% of its revenue could come from exports. The company aspires not only to achieve success in revenue, profit, and brand recognition but also to elevate Ca Mau crabs, Vietnamese seafood, and various Vietnamese spices onto the global culinary stage.
Vua Cua is a dynamic brand specializing in the business and development of Ca Mau crab products, managing a chain of establishments, including Vua Cua restaurants, Vua Cua Bike, and the Vua Banh Canh chain. Prior to the export of frozen processed Ca Mau crabs, Vua Cua achieved successful exports of various sauce types to the U.S.
