DNHN - Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts and Woodworking Association, provided positive news for Vietnam's wood industry at the "Vietnam Furniture and Wood Industry Forum" on the afternoon of July 28.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts and Woodworking Association, announced that export orders will begin to recover by the end of the second quarter of 2023, although they have not yet fully recovered. This recovery signal represents a significant turning point for Vietnam's furniture industry, allowing it to achieve its export goals and develop sustainably in the future.
Ms. Tran Nhu Trang, a representative of the SIPPO Vietnam program, elaborated on the recovery of Vietnam's top five export markets for wood, including the United States, Europe, Japan, and many others. Not only are there positive indicators of output growth, but there are also numerous new market trends and requirements.
The European market has played a leading role in shaping the consumption trend of the wood furniture industry, accounting for two-thirds of the market share of Vietnam's high-end exports. This necessitates that Vietnam's wood industry improve and adapt to international standards on environment, society, and corporate responsibility to ensure sustainable consumption.
The recovery of markets in Japan, South Korea, India, Canada, and numerous other nations is also evident, as consumers return to stores after a lengthy absence due to the pandemic. However, it is important to note that these markets also place stringent demands on Netzero's carbon reduction efforts. This necessitates that Vietnam's wood industry prioritizes the use of sustainable raw materials and production processes, thereby reducing carbon emissions.
The Vietnamese wood industry must define a new strategy to achieve sustainability goals and satisfy the market's ever-increasingly stringent demands. To increase competitiveness and attract the attention of discerning markets, it is necessary to enhance the quality and added value of products first. In addition, it is necessary to invest in research and development to offer products with creative and distinctive designs that cater to the diverse preferences of consumers.
Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Thuy, Director of Division IV, repositioned the development vision for Vietnam's furniture industry in the new context, citing new market challenges related to the European Union's Wood Standards. The European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) or Net Zero objective will also aid the positive development of Vietnam's wood and forest product processing industry. Since then, conditions have been created for the industry to expand, attracting more foreign investment flows.
Promoting the export of wood furniture also necessitates close collaboration between businesses and authorities to ensure compliance with each market's export regulations and standards. Improving operational and quality management capabilities is also essential to maintaining a company's reputation and meeting the stringent quality standards of demanding markets.
Concurrently, it is essential to promote the marketing and promotion of Vietnamese wood furniture brands abroad. Using modern communication channels and digital technology will help the Vietnamese wood industry reach a large number of potential customers and create a trustworthy, high-quality image.
Additionally, establishing dependable partnerships with international businesses, distributors, and agents will aid in expanding the market and gaining access to more orders. Particularly, it is necessary to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with businesses in the wood industry of nations with a long history of wood production and consumption to share knowledge and create favorable conditions for the opening of the timber market. Expand markets and enhance international competitiveness.
With the resumption of export orders from key markets, the wood furniture industry in Vietnam has started to receive positive signals. To achieve export goals and become more sustainable, the industry must concentrate on enhancing product quality, emphasizing innovation, and adapting to market demands. In addition to promoting marketing and brand promotion, close cooperation between businesses and authorities will help Vietnam's wood furniture industry achieve long-term, sustainable success in the international market. future.
