DNHN - On September 13, 2023, under the auspices of the Investment and Trade Promotion Working Group of the province of Long An, they participated in a number of crucial investment promotion activities and obtained a multitude of positive outcomes.
In 2023, the Vietnam - Japan Trade and Investment Promotion Forum will be coordinated by the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Japanese organisations. On behalf of Long An province, Mr. Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and members of the province's working delegation were present. The programme also includes the participation of the provinces of Hung Yen and Soc Trang, industrial park infrastructure enterprises in Vietnam, and over 150 representatives of large Japanese businesses and corporations.
Ambassador of Vietnam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu stated at the opening of the Forum that economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Japan are developing rapidly. Japan is currently Vietnam's top economic partner, ranking first in ODA, second in labour, third in investment and tourism, and fourth in trade. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu opined that Vietnam-Japan relations are at their best point in history; with the support of the governments and people of both nations, Vietnam-Japan relations are poised to reach new heights. Strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as investment, trade, tourism, and labour and new cooperation areas such as green transformation and energy transformation; promote local and international exchanges. Mr. Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee, attended the forum and provided an overview of Long An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, which highlighted the province's potential and advantages. Within the framework of the Forum, Saigon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company signed a memorandum of understanding with Valley Campus Japan (VCJ) and Valley Campus Saigon (VCS) regarding cooperation in the implementation of projects in Long An about human resource development, solution development, and technology transfer in the fields of agriculture and environment. Cooperation in training and supplying highly qualified human resources to meet Japan's most stringent requirements in the fields of agriculture and IT industry. Solution platforms deploy high-tech agricultural/IoT application platforms, apply Blockchain technology to traceability, and track and measure carbon emissions. This is the only cooperation agreement signed at the forum, and it has received a great deal of attention and appreciation from Japanese partners for achieving the province's goal of industrialization and modernization associated with sustainable development. are proceeding.
In addition, the province's delegation participated in a discussion with the leaders of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee (Keidanren) on September 13. At the invitation of the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnamese Consulate South in Osaka, a delegation from Long An province participated in investment and trade promotion in Japan from September 10 through September 16. Before that, the delegation greeted and paid a courtesy visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, worked with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), paid a courtesy visit to a Japanese parliamentarian, and collaborated with several Japanese businesses and universities.
