DNHN - The group from Vientiane, Laos visited Hanoi to assess supermarkets and commercial centres as part of the Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Program under the subject "Hanoi - Vientiane, Cooperation for Development."

Winmart Smart City (Vincom Mega Mall Smart City - Nam Tu Liem District) and Savico Megamall were visited by the Vientiane delegation (Long Bien District). Vice Mayor of Vientiane Capital Phouvong Vongkhamsao and the delegation learnt about the process of acquiring, collecting, and packing commodities and agricultural products before they are placed in supermarkets and commercial areas for consumption. Simultaneously, we anticipate that WinCommerce and Savico Megamall will be able to acquire commodities and agricultural products from Vientiane businesses and place them in the supermarket system for consumption.

Khuc Tien Ha, a representative of the Winmart supermarket chain (owned by WinCommerce General Trading Services Joint Stock Company), stated that the supermarket is always looking for products and agricultural products from around the world that meet the standards of food safety and hygiene, as well as the enterprise's standards.

According to Ms Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, Hanoi is contacting 63 provinces and cities around the nation and requesting a list of suppliers, items, output, and time for the Hanoi Department of Industry and Commerce. She stated that this is also a solution to assist companies to save time and money. Mrs Phuong Lan thinks that economic activity and product consumption links between Hanoi and Vientiane would be increased in the future.

The Hanoi Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center (HPA) assist Lao firms in approaching and introducing their products to retail shops in Hanoi. Ms Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, Deputy Director of the Center, stated that the unit would establish an online connection program (online) between Lao manufacturing firms and Vietnamese distributors and retailers such as Big C, AEON MALL, Hapro, Co.op Mart...

"Through these initiatives, retail enterprises will inform and promote technical standards for bringing items to supermarkets to Lao producing units." Simultaneously, information on the use of new technology trends in packaging and packaging of international standards is provided. "From there, Lao firms will be able to better understand the demands of Vietnamese customers, as well as study, construct, and grow Lao product brands in Vietnam," said Ms Mai Anh.

Phouvong Vongkhamsao, Vice Mayor of Vientiane Capital, hopes that the two sides will continue to strengthen ties and expand the scale of exchange and trade cooperation; Lao agricultural products will be able to enter the system of supermarkets and trade centres in Hanoi, and Vietnamese businesses in general, and Hanoi in particular, will invest and expand the supermarket model in Vientiane.
