DNHN - According to a report published by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, the textile, garment, and footwear industries account for almost 14.2% of occupational accidents and 13.7% of accident deaths. In 2021, mining - minerals will account for 13.3% of labor; ranked third is the group that produces building materials, which will account for 10.6% of cases, etc.
According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the construction industry has the rate of occupational accidents accounting for 9.7%; mechanical engineering - metallurgy and services together accounted for 6.2%. The highest number of deaths from occupational accidents was in the textile, garment and footwear sectors, accounting for 13.7%; Mining, minerals 12.8% and general construction about 10.3%.

In 2021, there were 6,504 occupational accidents nationwide, (reducing 1,876 cases compared to 2020) causing 6,658 accidents. The situation of occupational accidents in 2021 in the area of labor relations and the area of employees working without labor contracts both decreased compared to 2020 in both the number of deaths and the number of fatal occupational accidents.
The localities with the highest number of deaths from work-related accidents in 2021, including both areas such as: TP. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen.
Accordingly, in the area of industrial relations, according to reports from 63 localities, in 2021, there were 5,797 occupational accidents nationwide, causing 5,910 accidents, of which: number of fatal occupational accidents. 574 cases; death toll 602 people; 1,226 people were seriously injured.
Along with a number of major occupational accidents under investigation, localities reported 22 occupational accidents for prosecution in 2021, with the investigating police agency deciding to prosecute in 10 cases.
Analysis from the investigation records of fatal occupational accidents received, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs assessed that the type of joint stock company with the highest occupational accident occurred, accounting for 44.25% of the total number of employees. fatal occupational accident, followed by a group of limited liability companies, state-owned enterprises, administrative and non-business units, and enterprises with 100% foreign capital.
The areas of production and business where many fatal occupational accidents occur such as: Textile, garment, leather and footwear; mining, mineral extraction; Production of building materials; mechanics, metallurgy; service.
Employers are mostly responsible for fatal workplace accidents due to their failure to design safe working processes and measures; unsafe equipment; and a lack of occupational safety training. For employees, it is due to violations of technical regulations and occupational safety procedures; failure to use provided personal protection equipment and safety equipment.
According to preliminary data of localities, material losses due to occupational accidents occurring in 2021 include: costs of medicine, burial, compensation for the deceased's family and the injured. ,... is over 3,954 billion VND (down 2,049 billion VND compared to 2020); property damage is over 18 billion VND (up 14,117 billion VND compared to 2020); the total number of days off due to occupational accidents is over 116,377 days (down 33,947 days compared to 2020).
For the area without labor relations, in 2021, there were 707 occupational accidents, causing 748 accidents. The occupational accidents occurred mainly in the fields of construction, agriculture, crafts, mechanics, trade and services.
In 2022, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs will enhance inspection and investigation of businesses operating in high-risk industries such as construction, building material production, textiles, footwear, mining, and minerals.
Particularly significant construction projects, next to residential areas, densely populated, with lifting equipment, elevators, and public amusement facilities equipped with roller coaster games, ferris wheels, slides, and cable cars, etc.
