Hanoi tourism is growing strongly in the first 5 months of the years

DNHN - In the coming years, Hanoi's tourism industry will continue to prioritise the implementation of numerous tourism stimulus programmes and the development of new destinations and tourism product groups.
Tourism is experiencing rapid expansion in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. In the first five months of the year, the number of tourists visiting Hanoi has increased by 53.9% compared to the same period in 2022.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the capital's tourism industry welcomed more than 2 million visitors in May 2023, a 6.4% increase over the previous month. There are expected to be more than 316 thousand international tourists, a threefold increase over the same period in 2022.
Although the domestic market experienced a slight decline, reaching 1.7 million visitors (-5.6% over the same period), total revenue from the tourism industry is projected to exceed VND 7.26 trillion, an increase of 25.4% over the same period last year, but a decrease of 11.2% compared to April 2023.

In the first five months of 2023, Hanoi's tourism industry welcomed over 10 million visitors, a 53.9% increase over the same period in the previous year. International arrivals were estimated at 1.71 million, a nearly 10-fold increase over the same period in 2022, and domestic arrivals were estimated at 8.4 million, a 31.3% increase over the same period.
The estimated total revenue from tourists was over 37 trillion VND, a 92.4% increase over the same period last year.
As of May 2023, Hanoi has 3,756 accommodation establishments with a total of 70,218 rooms, of which 603 hotels are rated between 1 and 5 stars. The average occupancy rate of one- to five-star hotels is approximately 60 per cent, a significant increase of 32.6% compared to the same period last year.
Dang Huong Giang, director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, stated that from now until the end of the year, it is anticipated that the capital will test a model of community tourism combined with hands-on experiences in craft villages and tourist destinations. In the future, Hanoi's tourism industry will continue to prioritise implementing numerous tourism stimulus programmes, developing destinations, creating new tours and groups of tourism products, and organising a wide range of tourism-related activities. In addition, the capital will coordinate the implementation of a programme to support investment in tourism infrastructure in key tourist areas and attractions, such as the Huong Son Scenic Area (Perfume Pagoda) and the ceramic village. Bat Trang (Gia Lam), ancient Duong Lam village, Ba Vi region...
In addition, it will organise festivals and events to promote tourism in the capital, including the Hanoi Tourism Photo Contest, the 2023 Hanoi Gift Tourism Festival, and the Hanoi Ao Dai Festival. To promote the image of Hanoi tourism to domestic and international tourists, the units will strengthen the capital's tourism communication on domestic and international media and television channels such as CNN and other social media platforms.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the development of night tourism products, such as renovating the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake, the Son Tay Old Citadel moat, and the Southern Ring 3 urban area (district of Hoang Mai); walking space around Thien Quang lake - Thong Nhat Park (district of Hai Ba Trung). Cooperate with tour operators and tourist destinations, particularly monuments and heritage sites, to develop night tourism products, enhance security, order, and environmental sanitation, and thereby create a safe, visitor-friendly environment.
