The year 2023 marks the new era with non-stop changing of the economy, characterized by monetary policies from developed countries and the growth pressures following the pandemic, which have stimulated the process of enhancing business operations and optimizing resources for both global and local enterprises. Alongside challenges arising from global economic instability, such as flexible exchange rate policies and strict regulation and supervision of the financial system, the trend of shifting production markets from China, Taiwan, Thailand to Vietnam also promises to create investment opportunities and cooperation for companies in the manufacturing, industrial and supporting industries.

Similarly, Mr. Takeo NAKAJIMA, Chief Representative of The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Hanoi Office, shared: “From 2004 to the present, with the aim of increasing the localization rate for Japanese businesses in Vietnam, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has continuously collaborated with the Vietnamese Government to organize the "Vietnam-Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition" alternately each year in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This year marks the 10th edition of the exhibition held in Hanoi. There are 50 participating companies showcasing their booths, including 22 Japanese companies that have invested in Vietnam seeking local suppliers, and 28 Vietnamese companies wishing to provide for Japanese businesses. Furthermore, this year JETRO is coordinating with relevant Vietnamese agencies to organize networking activities to support Vietnamese suppliers. We hope that the business networking activities at the exhibition will create numerous opportunities for interactions among businesses, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese supporting industries sector and enhancing expanded trade between the two countries.”
Attending the opening and ribbon cutting event, the dual exhibitions welcome the appearance and speech of Mr. Do Thang Hai, Vice Minister, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MOIT) and Mr. Shige WATANABE, Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam (EOJ).
Mr. Do Thang Hai speech: "Supporting industries play a significant role in the economic restructuring towards industrialization and modernization, contributing to enhancing labor productivity, competitive capacity, value creation, and increasing the contribution of the processing and manufacturing industry to the economic structure.
Recognizing the importance of supporting industries, the Government of Vietnam has actively implemented the Supporting Industry Development Program from 2016 to 2025. Through this program, support is provided to Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises to adopt modern quality standards and management systems, improve product quality, reliability, and gradually integrate into the global supply chain, increasing localization rates in important manufacturing sectors such as automobiles, textiles, footwear, and electronics.
Additionally, to create favorable conditions for supporting industry enterprises and promote the development and competitiveness of the manufacturing and processing industry, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution No. 115/NQ-CP on August 6, 2020, outlining new policies aimed at boosting the development of the supporting industry.
The Vietnam-Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition is one of the most important trade and investment promotion activities, contributing to exploring cooperation potential between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises in the supporting industries. It provides practical opportunities for Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises to access and learn about new market trends, technological innovations, and to directly engage with potential partners from Japan and internationally, thus contributing significantly to the strong and sustainable transformation of Vietnam's supporting industry.
Over the past 10 exhibitions, the achieved results have involved thousands of Vietnamese enterprises introducing their products to Japanese businesses, and thousands of Japanese enterprises finding Vietnamese manufacturing partners. Tens of thousands of visitors, both domestic and foreign, have attended, and learned from each other, contributing to the growth of two-way trade between our countries. Japan's investment projects continue to find their way into the Vietnamese market.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade would like to express our gratitude to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Vietnam for their dedicated efforts in implementing a significant project over the past decades, which has greatly contributed to the development of the supporting industry in Vietnam. The Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes that JETRO will continue to collaborate and work together with the Trade Promotion Agency to create more events and business connectivity opportunities, facilitating technology transfer between supporting industry enterprises of Vietnam and Japan in the coming time.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the combination of The Vietnam - Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition and The Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) will continue to provide practical opportunities for Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises to access and learn about new market trends, technological innovations, and to directly engage with potential partners from Japan and internationally, thus making a significant contribution to the strong and sustainable transformation of Vietnam's supporting industry".
The 10th Vietnam - Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition (SIE) and The 14th Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) in Hanoi will take place on August 9-11, 2023, at the I.C.E Exhibition Center in Hanoi.
