Dong Thap discussed with foreign organizations to promote sustainable agriculture

DNHN - Rikolto International proposes the Low Carbon Rice Project in Dong Thap, which expands and strengthens Rikolto's sustainable rice program through the use of regenerative agriculture.

On April 3, the provincial and facility leaders of Dong Thap met with leaders and experts from Livelihoods Funds and Rikolto International. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Dong Thap, Nguyen Phuoc Thien, stated that the project has yielded numerous positive outcomes in Dong Thap, including an increase in farmers' incomes and a reduction in water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. A representative of Rikolto International proposed the low-carbon rice project in Dong Thap to provincial leaders. Particularly, will expand the scale and strengthen Rikolto's sustainable rice program with regenerative agriculture, having 15,000 hectares of SRP rice (applying the alternating flood and dry method correctly and completely) within five years, with 30 cooperatives and 10,000 farmers.
