DNHN - On March 9, at the Dong Thap Employment Service Centre, the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs organised a meeting with workers before their departure to South Korea for seasonal work in 2024.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan said that Dong Thap is one of the few provinces in the country that has established a cooperation agreement with localities in South Korea to support workers in seasonal work. This is a great opportunity for Dong Thap workers not only to increase their income but also to gain experience in high-quality agriculture.
Recently, Dong Thap workers have received high praise and positive feedback from localities in South Korea. Therefore, the Vice Chairman hopes that the workers will continue to strive to build a good image of the citizens of the Sen Hong Land. At the same time, he called on workers to strictly comply with the regulations and laws of the host country where they work. In addition, they must also be aware and vigilant to avoid being exploited and enticed into illegal residences after the expiration of their contracts, to avoid any negative impact on individuals, families and the reputation of Dong Thap province’s workers.
Based on the agreement between Dong Thap Province and Yeoncheon County - Gyeonggi Province and Cheorwon County - Gangwon Province (South Korea) on cooperation in sending workers to South Korea for seasonal work, the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with the People’s Committees of districts and cities to hold a meeting to select workers who have registered to participate in the programme. As a result, 350 workers have been selected to go to South Korea for seasonal work in March and April 2024.
These workers were recruited and trained by the Dong Thap Employment Service Centre. They were trained in conversational Korean and given educational guidance to fully meet the requirements of the recruiting unit. In this batch, the workers will participate in seasonal work in the agricultural sector in Yeoncheon County (Gyeonggi Province) and Cheorwon County (Gangwon Province) of South Korea.
