Dimocarpus longan is promoted by Hung Yen to overseas visitors

DNHN - During the Dimocarpus longan harvest season, a team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an international delegation visited, experienced, and linked in Hung Yen city on August 22. This project intends to introduce foreign partners to Hung Yen culture and people.

Ambassadors from the following countries were present: Palestine, Uruguay, Laos, Chile, Venezuela, South Africa, Cambodia, Myanmar, Italy, Algeria, the United States, Korea, Mexico, Colombia, Turkey... and nearly 100 delegates representing embassies, international organizations, business associations from more than 20 countries, domestic and foreign press agencies.

The team and foreign visitors came to tour and sample longan gardens in Hong Nam commune, which is home to Hung Yen's first king longan variety. The commune now boasts over 150 hectares of VietGap longan, with an expected yield of over 2,000 tons of fresh longan.

Many naturally selected longan varieties with good quality and beautiful designs can be found in the Hong Nam commune. For many years, locals have used technology in planting and caring according to the VietGap procedure to construct a good raw material area, make prestigious goods, and assure food safety requirements while reaching the hands of their consumers. Some gardens have received area codes to export to the US market.

Following the success of previous events supporting investment promotion, trade, and local tourism, Mr Nguyen Minh Vu, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is very pleased to coordinate with Hung Yen city to organize an international exchange program for diplomatic missions, foreign business associations, and foreign tourism associations in Vietnam on the occasion of the longan fruit harvest season - particularly progeny.

The Assistant Minister praised the city officials of Hung Yen for their initiative and excitement in inviting the foreign delegation to trade and interact. He stated that this is an important event that would assist the city to promote its culture, tourism, people, and traditional items to foreign acquaintances.

Today's products offered to worldwide friends not only help to promote the city's brand and personality but also serve as significant export commodities for the province in regional and international markets.

Saadi Salama, the Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam, expressed his gratitude for returning to Hung Yen and knowing Pho Hien for its famed longan product. Visitors may learn more about the land of the Hung Yen people and the features of the lovely new city near to Hanoi, which is expanding with many promises, via this highly important tour.

Hung Yen city combines ancient cultural values with a vibrant, contemporary, and welcoming metropolitan environment, as well as the famous delectable longan fruit speciality... That is a lovely impression that will live on in the memories of foreign delegates.

At the meeting, Secretary of the Hung Yen City Party Committee Pham Huy Binh presented the potentials, strengths, and accomplishments of the ancient Pho Hien, Hung Yen city today's economic, social, and cultural growth. He hoped that the foreign group would be impressed by the longan land and the warm and welcoming Pho Hien people. He also expects that international visitors and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' mission would accompany and serve as a bridge to help Hung Yen province open up new cooperation prospects with localities, agencies, and international business in the coming months.

Hung Yen city now boasts over 1,000 hectares of longan. The yield of this year's longan crop is anticipated to be more than 13 thousand tons, with 430 hectares satisfying VietGap criteria and 6,000 tons of longan products.
