DNHN - According to the Da Nang People's Committee, the North-South railway running through the city is about 40.3 km long, flanked by low-income residential areas, with inadequate infrastructure and environmental sanitation. Before the requirements and requirements of modern and spacious urban development of Da Nang, it is necessary to relocate the station out of the city centre.
Da Nang railway station has a history of 120 years but is located in the heart of the city with a series of intersections with roads, creating great pressure on traffic, environment and urban order.
Specifically, the current Da Nang railway station is located in the Thanh Khe district. The land area of the station and related works is 24 ha, accounting for 2.6% of the district's land area. Meanwhile, urban roads in Thanh Khe district only account for 71 km/1,039 km, a rate of 6.8% compared to the whole city.

In the process of urbanization, Da Nang station has been located in the inner city with an area of more than 44,000 m2. The railway line also intersects with more than 25 road intersections, causing obstacles and potential traffic jams at peak hours, and at the same time not ensuring a safe corridor for railway traffic.
"There are many cases of trains passing but people still standing inside the barie, very dangerous", and in fact, there have been many serious traffic accidents at the crossroads.
Commenting on the construction of the Da Nang urban government at the workshop held in mid-May, many architects and urban experts said that, with the current transport system, maintaining a station located right downtown is no longer relevant.
On July 13, leaders of the Da Nang Department of Construction said that according to the master plan adjustment project of Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision of 2045 approved by the Prime Minister, a new railway station will be built at the corner of the intersection of Hoang Van Thai street and the south bypass of Hai Van tunnel, about 2 km from Ba Na - Suoi Mo road axis. to the north. The estimated scale of the station is about 30 hectares, the warehouse is about 60 hectares.
The project to relocate Da Nang station, planned to be built in 2004, is divided into two sub-projects, including sub-project 1 with the task of moving the station, the North-South national railway line out of the centre of Da Nang city, to the west, includes: Building a new railway line of 1,000 mm gauge, about 29 km long; construction of works crossing rivers, roads and railways; build 1 main passenger terminal and cargo terminal.

The area around the new railway station will be invested in urban infrastructure in the direction of integrated development, improving urban infrastructure and improving living conditions for people, improving land use efficiency, etc.
In particular, the construction of the main traffic axis with an expected cross-section of 33 m, 6 lanes is connected and is also a public transport route in the future. This component will also invest in the construction of resettlement areas.
In the written comment on the plan and investment capital for the relocation project of Da Nang railway station of the Ministry of Transport, the representative of the Ministry of Planning and Investment also affirmed that Da Nang station and the railway system through The city centre has revealed many limitations such as crossing with the road system causing traffic jams, not ensuring a safe corridor for railway traffic.
According to the leader of this Ministry, it is necessary to relocate the railway station from its current location to overcome limitations and meet the development requirements of Da Nang city.
