DNHN - On August 26, Synopsys - one of the US companies dominating the global market for electronic design automation (EDA), chip design software announced that it will train engineers in Vietnam and award certification to build a local chip design centre.
Accordingly, Synopsys supported Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park to establish a chip design centre through a software sponsorship program. The partnership aims to cultivate advanced IC design talent and facilitate the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
Through Synopsys Academic & Research Alliances (SARA), Synopsys will provide its university software program, including curriculum, educational resources, and “trainer training” program to SHTP to set up a chip design centre. High-tech park in Ho Chi Minh City will invest in information technology infrastructure to set up a chip design centre.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park, Synopsys is known for its industry-leading semiconductor design software, software and IP security solutions. In addition to 2 active semiconductor design projects, including the Semiconductor Circuit Design and Research Centre of Microchip Technology Company (Vietnam) and the integrated electronic circuit (IC) design project of Co., Ltd. SNST & Finger Vina, SHTP are also attracting the interest and investment opportunities of other chip designers in the world. Therefore, in the coming time, the demand for IC design personnel will be very large, requiring Ho Chi Minh City to take steps to prepare for more investment in training.
According to Mr. Thi, the SHTP chip design centre will be the focal point to receive software, technology and in-depth training, including training and guidance for university lecturers in training students, student majoring in circuit design. Specifically, SHTP Chip Design Centre will welcome lecturers from 3 universities of HCM city national university, namely University of Science and Technology, University of Natural Sciences and University of Information Technology to train the program. training teachers and doing training at the same time.
Mr. Robert Li, Sales Vice President of Synopsys Taiwan and South Asia, said that the current big challenge of the chip manufacturing industry is the lack of human resources, while Vietnam has this human strength and the cost is still low compared to other countries in the region such as Singapore, Malaysia, etc.
“In recent years, Synopsys has introduced many advanced technologies to its Vietnamese partners to help them strengthen their IC design capabilities and shorten product time to market. We hope the partnership with SHTP will not only bring new technology to our partners in Vietnam, but also incubate young talent and help promote the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry.” Mr. Robert Li said.
