DNHN - To prevent flooding in Truong Son commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) inaugurated and handed over the Community Cultural House on July 28, 2023.
This is the fourth project inaugurated and handed over by BIDV as part of a programme to construct 13 flood-proof houses in six provinces in the central region that are prone to flooding (Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien). Hue, Quang Nam Province).
The total construction investment for the project is 3.5 billion VND, of which BIDV contributed 3 billion VND and the remaining amount was covered by the local budget. Built-in accordance with BIDV specifications, the Cultural House for preventing flooding in Truong Son commune is a two-story structure with a construction area of 268m2 and a capacity of approximately 250 people. The first floor has a 213m2 space with a railing system; the remaining space will be used to construct disabled walkways, the lobby, and the stairs. The second floor features a 117.8-square-meter community room with a stage, kitchen, storage space, and a toilet...

Mr Tran Xuan Hoang, a member of the Board of Directors of BIDV, stated at the inauguration ceremony, "Truong Son commune is a border commune of Quang Ninh district with primarily rugged mountainous terrain that frequently experiences natural disasters. BIDV believes that when the Community Cultural House to Prevent Floods project is inaugurated and put into use, it will serve as a place for the people of Truong Son commune to meet, exchange ideas, and engage in cultural activities. A solid base to ensure the safety of people and animals during the flood season.

Concurrently, there is a space for cultural activities of the community, a place for living, training, and the exchange of knowledge and production experiences, thereby strengthening and promoting the solidarity of the people.
Also during the programme, BIDV Quang Binh distributed 20 gifts worth 20 million VND to underprivileged students in Truong Son commune to assist them before the start of the new school year.
Building a Community Cultural House to prevent flooding is a programme that BIDV cares about and invests in; at the same time, it is an action to fulfil BIDV's commitment to the contributions of athletes participating in the "BIDVRUN - For a Green Life" Run, with the desire to contribute to reducing the impact of natural disasters like floods, climate change, and climate change. The effects of climate change on people's lives and the country's sustainable development. Since March 2022, BIDV has inaugurated three projects in the Cam Xuyen district of the Ha Tinh province.
