DNHN - On Feb 19, the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a ceremony to announce the export of a batch of seedless mangoes to South Korea and to link the production and consumption of mangoes according to the value chain.
Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) Huynh Kim Dinh; Deputy Director of the Post-Import Plant Quarantine Centre 2 - Plant Protection Department Le Thi Dieu Xuan; and An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy attended the event.
At the ceremony, the export of 13 tonnes of seedless mangoes from the Cho Moi district to the South Korean market was announced. At the same time, a contract was signed for the joint sale of mangoes (large green-skinned mangoes) and small seedless mangoes between Cu Lao Gieng GAP Cooperative and Hoang Phat Fruit Co., Ltd. Cu Lao Gieng GAP Cooperative signed a contract authorising Tin Tam Investment and Trade Development Co., Ltd. to supply agricultural materials to cooperative members, for production and collection of material costs at the end of the season.
Speaking at the ceremony, An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy said that for the province’s mangoes to be exported to markets such as the United States, Australia, South Korea and to conquer other demanding markets in the world, it has taken great effort and determination from local authorities, businesses, and especially cooperatives and farmers in Cho Moi district in developing the district’s agricultural products.
She, therefore, requested that provincial and Cho Moi district departments, offices and sectors continue to develop high-quality mango growing areas, build sustainable production and export chains, and meet the demand for high-quality mango exports. An Giang Provincial People’s Committee will always create favourable conditions to support businesses and farmers in building a stable mango raw material area and promoting the sustainable development of the mango value chain in the future.
