The festival recorded the largest tourism stimulus package ever, meeting the diverse needs of domestic and foreign visitors. The Closing Ceremony of the 20th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival in 2024 with the theme “20 years of a vibrant journey” associated with the programme message “Ho Chi Minh City Welcomes You - Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City” officially ended in the pride, excitement and enthusiasm of the people, visitors and businesses on the evening of April 7, 2024.
According to the assessment of the Organising Committee, the 20th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival in 2024 took place as planned, fully implemented the contents of the festival, ensured safety in all aspects, created an exciting atmosphere and a spirit of cooperation and solidarity between the city’s tourism sector and neighbouring provinces and cities.
Previously, at the opening night of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2024, Mr Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also acknowledged and commended the initiative and proactiveness in maintaining the organisation of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival. At the same time, he emphasised that with the material and spiritual foundations of the largest economic centre in the country, a centre of innovation in the country, through this Tourism Festival Programme, Ho Chi Minh City will play the role of a focal point for provinces, cities and tourism businesses across the country to bring many safe and vibrant journeys to attract domestic and international visitors as the message of the festival.
At the closing ceremony, Ms Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that this was the result of the orientation and careful preparation of tours, routes and products that meet the needs and tastes of the tourism market on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday and the summer of 150 booths from 45 provinces and cities and 50 tourism service businesses, including businesses belonging to the Ho Chi Minh City tourism stimulus alliance.
In addition to the outstanding results achieved in tourism stimulus activities, this festival continued to be innovated in a more professional direction with a series of conference activities, seminars, discussions and a very practical tourism promotion programme, both in line with reality and updating world trends to aim for a transformation of the development model, preparing to step into a new chapter at the age of 20 with the desire for a greener, more sustainable and more vibrant future for the tourism industry of the city as well as the whole country.
This shows the extremely strong recovery and growth of the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry through each year of organisation, especially in the period after the city completely controlled the epidemic at the end of 2022.
Within the framework of the four-day 20th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival (from April 4-7, 2024), the 2024 Thai Nguyen Province Tourism Promotion Conference in Ho Chi Minh City and the Nghe An Tourism Promotion Conference in Ho Chi Minh City with the theme “Journey to the source - Nghe An’s affection” were also held with the participation of 400 delegates. The aim was to promote and introduce the tourism potential and services of Nghe An to a large number of visitors in the southern market. Also at the Conference, there were discussions and signing of cooperation agreements between tourism associations such as the Nghe An Tourism Association and Thai Nguyen Tourism Association signing cooperation agreements with the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and the Tourism Association of the Mekong Delta provinces. This created a strong link between tourism businesses and organisations to promote sustainable development for the tourism industry of localities through road and air routes.
