Mrs Le Thi Bang Tam would step down as chairman of HDBank after 12 years?

DNHN - According to the recently announced shareholder meeting document, Ho Chi Minh City Housing Development Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HDBank - Code: HDB) has announced the list of the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board expected to be elected for the term 2022-2027. Notably, in this list, there is no presence of Ms. Le Thi Bang Tam, the current Chairman of HDBank's Board of Directors.

Ms. Bang Tam currently holds the position of Chairman of HDBank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).
Meanwhile, according to the Law on Credit Institutions amended in 2017, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the General Director (Director) of a credit institution cannot concurrently be the Chairman of the Board of Directors, a member of the Board of Directors, the General Director (Director). Director), Deputy General Director (Deputy Director) or equivalent titles of other enterprises.
By not appearing in this election list, it is likely that Ms. Bang Tam will leave the chair at HDBank after 12 years of service.
Ms. Le Thi Bang Tam was born in 1947, in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen. She holds a PhD in Economics and holds an International Finance Certificate from Noth University (UK).
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Development Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HDbank) since June 12, 2010, an independent member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (VNM) since April 26, 2013.
Ms. Le Thi Bang Tam started her career as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting in 1969. Teaching at this university lasted until 1974, then she was transferred to the Ministry of Finance as Deputy Head of the Accounting Department untill 1982.
From 1982 to 1989, she studied for a Bachelor of Advanced Economic Management in Leningrad - Soviet Union and a PhD student in Finance and Credit at the USSR University of Economic and Financial Affairs.
From 1989 - 1995 as Deputy Director, Director, General Director - Central State Treasury;
In the period from 1995 to 2005, Ms. Le Thi Bang Tam was also a Deputy Minister and member of the Personnel Committee - Ministry of Finance.
Then from 2006 to 2008, he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors - State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC).
From 2008 to 2010, she worked as a senior consultant of a number of corporations and companies in Vietnam.
From 2010 up to now, she is an Independent Board Member; Chairman of the Board of Directors – HDBank.


In the list expected to submit to the upcoming 2022 General Meeting of Shareholders, there are 7 members of the Board of Directors including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (currently the Standing Vice Chairman), Mr. Nguyen Huu Dang, Mr. Luu Duc Khanh, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Do, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Mr. Kim Byoungho (Independent TV) and Mr. Le Manh Dung (Independent TV).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is currently the Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, and at the same time, Ms. Thao is currently holding the position of General Director of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (VJC); Standing Vice Chairman of HD SAISON's Member Council; President and General Director of Sovico; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sunny Sunflower Investment Co., Ltd and GalaxyOne Co., Ltd.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Dang is the Vice Chairman of HDBank and a member of the Board of Directors of HD Saison and the General Director of GalaxyOne.
Mr. Luu Duc Khanh is a member of the Board of Directors of Vietjet, Saigon Ground Service JSC and Chairman of the Representative Board of DC Dynamic Securities Investment Fund.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam is currently also a member of HDBank's Board of Directors, and is expected to elect a new member of the Board of Directors for the 2022-2027 term.
Notably, in the list of Board of Directors expected this time, there are two new faces: Mr. Kim Byoungho - Senior Advisor of IFC, Independent Board Member of SK Inc (Korea) and Mr. Le Manh Dung - Head of Representative Representative of DEG Deutsche Investments- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH in Vietnam.
In 2022, HDBank sets a profit target of VND 9,770 billion, up 21% compared to 2021. Total assets of the bank are expected to reach VND 440,439 billion, up 18% compared to the previous year. Total deposits and loans increased by 17% and 20%, respectively, reaching VND 392,683 billion and VND 256,060 billion.
HDBank also set a target of ROE and ROA in 2022, reaching 22.2% and 1.92% respectively. NPL ratio remained below 2%.
Additionally, the bank would boost charter capital by about VND5,231 billion through two issuances of more than 503 million shares that will pay 25% dividends in 2021 and 20 million staff shares (ESOP).
