Meeting between the Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee and the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces

DNHN - On the afternoon of April 3, the Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee Le Thanh Do met with the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces (Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho).
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee Le Thanh Do gave a general introduction to the socio-economic development situation, strengths, and potential of Dien Bien Province in various fields. In the first quarter of 2024, the province’s GRDP is estimated to reach over VND 3,000 billion, an increase of more than 6% compared to the same period last year, ranking 4th out of 14 provinces in the North Central and mountainous regions. Dien Bien Province has successfully organised many activities within the framework of the Dien Bien National Tourism Year and towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Notably, the Dien Bien Airport has completed its upgrade and resumed operations, facilitating tourists’ access to Dien Bien; in the first quarter of 2024, the number of tourists to Dien Bien increased by 1.46 times compared to the same period in 2023.
Representatives of the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces congratulated Dien Bien Province on successfully organising many important events within the framework of the Dien Bien National Tourism Year 2024 and towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. They also expressed that the rotating conference of the Council of the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces held in Dien Bien Province is an opportunity for businesses to exchange, and learn from each other’s experiences in developing production and business in line with the potential and strengths of the locality.
On this occasion, the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces handed over two houses of gratitude with a total value of VND 500 million to two policy families, including Mr Nguyen Hai Dang, a 61% disabled war veteran, residing in Group 4, Nam Thanh Ward (Dien Bien Phu City) and Ms Lo Thi Huong residing in Chieng Tong Village, Thanh Yen Commune (Dien Bien District). The construction costs were supported by the Business Associations of Son La, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau Provinces.
Also on the afternoon of April 3, the delegation of the Business Associations of the Northwestern Provinces visited and laid a wreath at the A1 Martyrs’ Cemetery.
