Hanoi: Thanh Xuan District People’s Committee and Labour Federation hold a ceremony to honour “Skilled Workers”, “Initiatives and Innovations” in 2024

DNHN - On April 23, the People’s Committee and the Labour Federation of Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi, held a ceremony to honour “Skilled Workers”, and “Initiatives and Innovations” in 2024 and to commemorate the 138th anniversary of International Labour Day.
At the ceremony, Cao Dac Tien, Chairman of Thanh Xuan District Labour Federation (LF), reviewed the tradition of International Labour Day. In the spirit of this special holiday, along with the country’s historical anniversaries of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, trade union organisations, the working class and labourers nationwide are demonstrating their strength, organising many practical activities, and competing to achieve many accomplishments in celebration.
The working class and labourers of Thanh Xuan District have been actively competing in labour, production, work and study to achieve practical accomplishments in celebration of major holidays in 2024, especially the emulation movements in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Trade Union.
Reporting on the achievements of “Skilled Workers”, “Initiatives and Innovations” in 2024, Mr Cao Dac Tien said that the “Skilled Workers”, “Initiatives and Innovations” movement was implemented with many diverse forms, suitable for the characteristics of each sector. At units and grassroots trade unions, 980 union members and working class and labourers were selected for commendation during Workers’ Month. Notably, 29 “Skilled Workers”, and 22 “Initiatives - Innovations” representing over 18,000 union members of 268 grassroots trade unions were honoured and commended at the district level, and 3 Skilled Workers were commended by the City.
Among them are typical figures such as Nguyen Viet Quynh - a Level 5/7 repairman at Toyota Thanh Xuan Co., Ltd. who has self-studied, conducted scientific research, accumulated experience, and made many initiatives in the technical repair process, proficiently using various types of machinery and equipment, and always excellently completing assigned tasks. In 2023, Mr Quynh won the Second Prize in the City-level Automobile Technology Skilled Workers Competition and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the City People’s Committee.
Another example is Nguyen Thanh Huy - a hardware design engineer at Binh Anh Electronic Technology Development Co., Ltd., who always excellently completes projects assigned by the company, and has achieved the title of Skilled Worker at the district level for many consecutive years; and Tran Hong Duc - an electrical engineer at Hoang Ha Trading and Service Joint Stock Company who has improved the anti-phase, phase-reversal component, the starting component and equipped the power supply cabinet for the computed tomography system with an additional lightning protection component, with a value of over 500 million VND.
In the sector of cadres, civil servants and public employees, comrade Nguyen Bich Thuy - Party cell secretary and Principal of Khuong Mai Primary School with the topic “Some management measures to improve the professional capacity of the teaching staff, effectively implementing innovation and creativity in teaching and learning at primary schools” has been applied on a scale that has influenced the City…
In addition, the Chairman of Thanh Xuan District LF said that there are many other typical examples of initiatives and innovations that have contributed to socio-economic development and are useful examples in emulation movements and trade union activities.
Launching the emulation movement to achieve accomplishments in celebration of major holidays and anniversaries of the Capital and the country, and towards the 95th anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Trade Union; in response to Workers’ Month, the Chairman of Thanh Xuan District LF proposed that grassroots trade unions and cadres, union members and working class and labourers of Thanh Xuan District widely disseminate within the trade union system and among all walks of life the position, role and contributions of the working class in the revolutionary cause, especially during the period of promoting the country’s industrialisation and modernisation.
Organise practical and effective activities for Workers’ Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, with a high level of action, directly addressing issues of concern and urgency to workers and labourers, following the actual situation at agencies, units and enterprises. Focus on practical content, organise “May Dialogue”; forums “Workers for Enterprises, Enterprises for Workers”, activities “Thank You to Labourers”, “Each Grassroots Trade Union, One Benefit for Union Members”. The activities of Workers’ Month, further improve the work of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and rightful rights and interests of union members, workers and labourers.
Mobilise the working class and labourers to make every effort to compete in “Skilled Labour”, and “Creative Labour,” with the goal of “Highest Productivity, Quality, Efficiency, Ensuring Occupational Safety and Health”; strive to fulfil the targets and plans for production and business in 2024. Cadres, civil servants, public employees and labourers continue to compete to promote administrative procedure reform, improve the quality of service, and focus on effectively implementing the City’s 2024 theme “Discipline, Responsibility, Action, Creativity, Development”, etc.
At the ceremony, Dang Khanh Hoa, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, launched the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2024, affirming that the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Thanh Xuan District always pay close attention to directing and closely monitoring the implementation of occupational safety and health at agencies, enterprises, business households and people in the area, especially for enterprises engaged in production and business, construction, renovation, repair, supermarkets, commercial centres, markets, schools…
To continue to effectively implement occupational safety and health work in the district, Mr Dang Khanh Hoa proposed that agencies, units, and socio-political organisations in the district promote information, propaganda, and dissemination of legal education on the purpose, meaning and content of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, Workers’ Month in 2024 to all agencies, organisations, enterprises and labourers, especially freelance labourers and labourers working in strict occupational safety and health environments, to prevent and minimise occupational accidents and occupational diseases in the district.
At the same time, fully promote the role of leaders and trade union organisations in caring for and protecting the legitimate and rightful rights and interests of workers and labourers; disseminate and mobilise workers and labourers to improve their knowledge, organisational discipline, work style and responsibility in labour production, and strictly comply with regulations on occupational safety and health.
Effectively perform the state management function of occupational safety and health, strengthen inspection, detection and timely handling of violations of the law on occupational safety and health, and strictly handle serious occupational accidents that cause damage to people and property of the state, enterprises and citizens…
Guide units and enterprises to strengthen the implementation of occupational safety and health; focus on self-inspection, control and prevention of hazardous factors at enterprises, prevention of occupational accidents and organisation of occupational safety and health training for labourers at units.
Continue to implement dialogue between employers, labourers, trade union organisations, organisations representing employers and state agencies to promote and improve fair and safe working conditions for labourers, and enhance the effectiveness of building and implementing policies and laws on occupational safety and health.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bui Huyen Mai, Secretary of the District Party Committee, reviewed the tradition of International Labour Day, emphasising that this is an extremely important event for the working class and labourers, with 80 countries and territories giving all labourers a day off on this occasion.
In the coming period, the Secretary of the Thanh Xuan District Party Committee proposed that the Standing Committee of the District Labour Federation direct grassroots trade unions at all levels to effectively implement specific action content, closely following issues related to the working class and trade union organisations in the new situation.
Strengthen propaganda and mobilisation work to raise the political awareness of union members and labourers, and ensure compliance with the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws; improve industrial work style, labour discipline, educational level, vocational skills, occupational safety and health, and fire prevention and fighting.
Trade unions at all levels in Thanh Xuan District continue to improve their work in caring for the material and spiritual life of union members, workers, civil servants and labourers, and representing and protecting their legitimate and rightful rights and interests; enhance the effectiveness of activities, care for female workers, civil servants and labourers; proactively coordinate with authorities at all levels to organise practical emulation movements, motivate workers and labourers to exercise their right to be masters, and take the lead in the emulation movement to develop the socio-economy in the locality, unit and enterprise.
Innovate the organisation and operation of trade unions in the new situation, focus on developing union members and grassroots trade unions, building strong trade union organisations, and paying attention to the quality and effectiveness of activities, especially at the grassroots level.
On this occasion, the City Labour Federation and the Thanh Xuan District Labour Federation provided support to union members and labourers in difficult circumstances; and awarded certificates to Skilled Workers in 2024: 29 Skilled Workers, 22 union members and labourers who have made many initiatives and innovations and have been honoured.
