DNHN - The Vietnam Investment and Development Joint Stock Bank (BIDV) organized a program to plant 6,500 new coastal protection trees in Quynh Lien commune, Hoang Mai town, on February 22, 2021, in collaboration with Nghe An Province (including 5,000 phi Lao trees and 1,500 black star trees).
The activity is part of the bid’s "1 million trees" planting program, which is in response to the Prime Minister's plan to plant one billion trees between 2021 and 2025. At the same time, the program aims to honor the 65th anniversary of BIDV Traditional Day (April 26, 1957 - April 26, 2022) and keep the promise to plant trees made by athletes participating in the "BIDVRUN - For Green Life" Race.
The coastal protection tree planting program not only helps to create "green shields" to block waves, windshields, and coastal landslides, but it also helps to reduce the negative effects of high tides and floods on people's lives on the central coast.
Mr. Le Van Luong, Member of the Union's Central Committee and Secretary of Nghe An Province (the unit in charge of receiving and caring for the new trees) said during the tree-planting ceremony: "Our country's tradition of planting trees in the early spring has become a good one. The people of Nghe An province have benefited greatly from a large number of barriers and coastal protections that BIDV has contributed. We will be responsible for caring for and ensuring the trees' survival and growth as a unit receiving trees."

Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the BIDV Trade Union, stated that since the start of the "1 million trees" program, BIDV has planted a total of 13,000 trees in places like Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Ba Vi National Park. BIDV is working to ensure that the program is implemented in 2022, to plant new trees and care for "one million trees" between 2021 and 2025.

BIDV hopes that the Program's green sprouts will lead to a new year full of hope for a greener, more sustainable, and prosperous Vietnam.
