DNHN - The Can Tho City Young Entrepreneurs Association, Can Tho City Red Cross Association, and TTC Group coordinated on October 15 to organise a voluntary blood donation programme with the theme "Joy from kindness."
Under the supervision of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association and with the approval of the Central Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, the programme is implemented.
Nearly 300 volunteers registered to donate blood are employees of businesses - members of the Young Entrepreneurs Association; Red Cross members and volunteers; youth union members in Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, and Cai Rang districts; and locals. Mr. Vien Tuan Thanh, vice chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Can Tho City, participated in the blood drive.
Volunteers at the festival are screened, have blood drawn for testing, analyse results, measure blood pressure, undergo a health check and receive specialised care before, during and after blood donation. The result was that the Organising Committee received 415,4 units of blood with a total volume of 350ml.
Ms Huynh Thanh Thao - President of the Red Cross Society of Can Tho City and Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign - stated that the current demand for blood in the emergency and treatment departments of the aforementioned hospitals is high in the city.
"Therefore, the Can Tho City Red Cross Society has coordinated with relevant units to mobilise people to participate in blood donation," Ms Thao explained. In addition, she admired the camaraderie and zeal of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, the Can Tho City Young Entrepreneurs Association, and the TTC Group in particular.
