The latest report from NielsenIQ Vietnam on the shopping behavior of Vietnamese consumers shows that the frequency of online shopping has doubled compared to 2023. This frequency is almost double the monthly supermarket shopping frequency of Vietnamese people.

According to the report, on average, each person uses 3.2 platforms to shop online, with mobile phones being the most used device, accounting for 94% of total purchases.
The three most purchased categories are food, beverages, and cosmetics. Following these are fashion - sports, home care and technology, mother and baby products, along with digital services such as subscription services, online bookings, and goods transportation. It is forecasted that in the last months of 2024, online shopping platforms will continue to have many opportunities for strong growth.
Notably, low prices are no longer the most decisive factor in online shopping behavior. The two most concerning reasons are buying to stock up for family consumption (25%) and for immediate dining needs (21%).
