DNHN - This statistic highlights significant opportunities for Vietnamese app developers to learn and improve to maximize growth potential.
According to a report from German market research firm Statista, Vietnam currently ranks 4th worldwide for mobile app downloads, averaging 10,000 downloads per minute. Users spend about 4 hours daily on apps. With approximately 1,500 app developers, many of whom have achieved international success—especially in gaming—Vietnam’s app market is rapidly expanding.
With an annual growth rate of 10.96% and projected revenue of $1.7 billion by 2029, Vietnam presents fertile ground for tech companies looking to expand globally. However, many enterprises still lack the knowledge, resources, and training needed to capitalize on these opportunities.
A survey by Yandex Ads titled "Trends and Challenges in App Revenue Growth in Vietnam" found that 64% of app developers feel under-resourced for revenue growth, with many relying solely on self-taught information from the internet.
This data suggests that Vietnamese app developers have ample room for learning and improvement to optimize growth. Numerous strategies exist to boost revenue, including in-app purchases, subscription models, and ad revenue. However, balancing user experience with revenue generation is a significant challenge. Excessive advertising can lead to user fatigue, reducing engagement and impacting revenue.
At the "Future of App Revenue Growth in Vietnam" event on October 30, Nana Phan, Strategic Partnerships for Yandex Ads in Southeast Asia, stated, “To optimize user experience without compromising revenue growth, developers should consider ad placement, frequency, and relevance. Our survey data underscores the importance of in-app revenue, with over half of respondents believing it suits all app types, and 60% finding it easier to generate revenue this way. Yandex Ads offers the Easy Monetization solution to help developers minimize system operating costs, enhance team efficiency, and optimize in-app ad revenue based on Yandex Ads’ revenue growth expertise."
Experts also emphasize that building strategic partnerships with stakeholders and business partners through favorable policies and regulations will play a crucial role in facilitating app development.
Collaborating with global tech companies can significantly enhance app visibility and revenue. Introducing Vietnam’s growth potential to international partners and communities is a key way to drive growth and investment in the industry.
Major tech companies can contribute expertise, support, and infrastructure to Vietnam's app ecosystem. By establishing local teams, these companies gain deeper insights into the challenges and needs of Vietnamese app developers.
Currently, the landscape for app revenue growth is evolving rapidly with new, exciting trends. AI-driven advertising, personalized content, and AI-supported revenue growth models are some of the innovations set to shape the future. Vietnamese developers can stay ahead by seizing these opportunities and collaborating with partners.
