The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority has recently collaborated with relevant units and submitted a report to the Ministry of Transport regarding the use of personal information on the VNeID application instead of personal documents for flying. This organization proposes restricting piloting to airports for the next two months.

Specifically, the pilot application of VNeID to replace personal documents will be implemented simultaneously from 1 June to the end of August at airports across the country for domestic flight passengers. Information on the application is only used as a substitute for citizen identification if guests voluntarily provide it.

At check-in counters, security check-in areas, and boarding areas, a pilot program utilizing the VNeID application to replace personal documents will be implemented.

For certain special cases, such as passengers with abnormal signs, passengers traveling in special cabins, etc., a combination of the truth-checking and counterfeiting of electronic identification accounts will be utilized. Scan the QR code on the passenger's level 2 electronic identification account to determine the confidence level of the passenger's level 2 electronic identification account.

Regarding the long-term mission plan, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration stated that it will deploy a level 2 personal electronic identification account authentication application for passengers checking in for air travel in conjunction with student authentication. Full passenger biometrics.

The Ministry of Transport has requested the completion of this task by 2023 to implement biometric authentication when citizens check in for flights. Currently, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration is actively deploying relevant aviation industry units to agencies.
