DNHN - Human resources is a critical concern for companies, thus firms must "shake hands" with vocational training institutions to be more aggressive in recruiting.
Dr Phan Huu Thang, former head of the Foreign Investment Department, said at the conference "Bac Ninh on the Road to Industrialization" that Vietnam today employs around 4.7 million people directly in the FDI industry. However, 80 per cent of them lack training certification. According to FDI companies, up to 60% of units have difficulty finding high-quality labour sources. According to a VCCI poll, up to 50 per cent of Vietnamese firms are having problems obtaining qualified human resources.
In that circumstance, numerous firms, universities, and professions have responded to suit the market's and their demands.
Vocational colleges and intermediate schools concentrate on propaganda, encourage communication about vocational education, enhance the quality and reputation of their institutions, focus on essential training disciplines, and collaborate with employers to increase the number of students enrolled in the program.

Muong Thanh Group acknowledged the need for human resource training almost ten years ago. As a result, this Group has developed an office unit to deal with policy concerns, and knowledge and established specializations to educate its workers, in conjunction with vocational education institutions to teach quality students...
According to Mr Nguyen The Cuong, Training Director of Muong Thanh Group, firms teach soft skills, and managerial skills, and recruit external partners to give extra training for leaders and directors in addition to professional capabilities. Muong Thanh Group has developed a team of competent executives and managers as a result of its early emphasis on training.
According to Ms Tran Thi Kieu Oanh, Human Resources Director of Saigon Food Joint Stock Firm, the company has maintained its policy of hiring competent individuals from colleges and universities for many years. Every month, the firm arranges student groups to visit the company and participate in the "Business Semester."
Depending on the students' majors and demands, the firm will organize them into departments where they will work as employees and gain key soft skills to become genuine workers. Students will be paid, get a certificate of completion of the internship, and have the possibility to work formally at the firm throughout the program.
Mr Giang Quoc Dung, Deputy General Director of Becamex Corporation, stated that to serve the development of human resources, Becamex has focused on developing the Eastern International University, investing in and creating favourable conditions to support the development of human resources, and assisting students in meeting the needs of businesses to provide a high-quality workforce for industrial development.
The institution will also serve as the province's information centre and technology transfer hub. Furthermore, Becamex has been working on the completion of the Becamex Advanced Manufacturing and Startup Center. This will be a location for high-tech human resource training, business assistance, and startup promotion. Furthermore, Becamex intends to construct several significant projects shortly, including the development of an Industry 4.0 Vietnam-Singapore Center, a Sustainable Energy Center, and a Sustainable Transportation Center.
"So far, we have collaborated with more than 20 firms to increase the quality of training, locate internships and opportunities for students," stated Mr Phong (Viet Xo school). Many significant firms are among them, including Hyundai Thanh Cong Ninh Binh, Mitsubishi, Lilama 69.1, Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise... After graduation, 100% of students who study technical vocations are assured to have appropriate positions with a training career and an excellent wage."
Amway Vietnam, a worldwide health and beauty brand, and Community College of Medicine have also created an intense beauty care training program. This is a curriculum designed to improve the knowledge and professional abilities of Amway's Artistry Star beauty therapists.
This curriculum, which is considered to be a watershed moment in the development of the next generation of highly skilled beauticians, also offers a comprehensive approach to body care based on scientific knowledge.
The rigorous beauty care training program, according to Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Community College of Medicine and Pharmacy, will open up many new chances for collaboration between companies and educational institutions. The Program not only improves in-depth knowledge for the company's distribution team but also establishes a foundation for the school to engage in the worldwide supply chain of high-quality human resources.
Human resources is a critical concern for companies, thus firms must "shake hands" with vocational training institutions to be more aggressive in recruiting.
Currently, the state has mechanisms in place to increase the quality of human resources, as well as remove impediments in terms of processes and rules. Specifically, earlier this year, the Government published Resolution 54/NQ-CP 2022 intending to improve labour productivity by more than 6.5 per cent per year on average, with the industry labour productivity growth rate in processing and manufacturing reaching 6.5 - 7 per cent per year.
The government will next direct ministries to take immediate and dramatic action to achieve this aim. This is also an opportunity for firms to develop high-quality people resources to meet the demands of production growth.
