Vietnam’s participation in the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism carried both historical and contemporary meaning. It was not only a remembrance of past struggles but also a modern statement of Vietnam’s stance for peace, justice, and international cooperation. As a nation that symbolized the aspiration for independence and freedom during the tumultuous 20th century, Vietnam’s presence affirmed its proactive role in building a peaceful world where past tragedies must never be repeated.

During the visit, President Luong Cuong held meaningful meetings with international partners and friends, expressing gratitude for the global community’s support, particularly during Vietnam’s 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. At the same time, he proposed new cooperation initiatives, conveying Vietnam’s image as a peace-loving nation ready to make responsible contributions to regional and global stability and development.

A highlight of the trip was the summit between President Luong Cuong and Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, alongside other high-level exchanges and banquets. Discussions were held in a spirit of sincerity and friendship, yielding agreement on major measures to implement shared understandings. These included: reinforcing political trust, promoting practical cooperation, addressing differences appropriately, enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and ensuring the stable, sustainable development of bilateral relations.

President Luong also met with the families of historic figures—Chinese advisors, generals, and Vietnamese intellectuals, who had contributed to the wartime and nation-building efforts, such as Generals Wei Guoqing, Chen Geng, Academician Nguyen Khanh Toan, and General Nguyen Son. These encounters were not only acts of remembrance but also a profound message of friendship, passing on the spirit of solidarity to future generations of both countries.

The two sides agreed on three core foundations for future cooperation: political, material, and social.

  • Political foundation: Regular high-level strategic exchanges will continue, consolidating political trust and strengthening coordination across the Party, State, government, parliament, and mass organizations at both central and local levels. Both sides pledged to build on common ground, resolve differences peacefully, and preserve a stable environment for development.

  • Material foundation: The two countries agreed to boost connectivity in the economy, infrastructure, and technology, with focus areas including agricultural trade, railway cooperation, science and technology, innovation, high-quality human resources training, advanced agriculture, and environmental protection. China is committed to expanding imports of Vietnamese goods, encouraging high-quality investment, and facilitating mutually beneficial business cooperation.

  • Social foundation: Vietnam and China will expand people-to-people exchanges, especially among youth, students, entrepreneurs, and social organizations. Direct flights will be increased, visa policies improved, and cooperation in tourism, culture, and education strengthened. The two sides also plan major activities for the Vietnam–China People-to-People Exchange Year, including youth “red journeys” to revolutionary sites linked to President Ho Chi Minh that China has preserved, reinforcing historical awareness and nurturing friendship among younger generations.

President Luong Cuong’s trip epitomized Vietnam’s confident diplomacy, strategic vision, and humanistic spirit. More than a routine state visit, it was a declaration that Vietnam is a responsible nation, proactive in shaping peace, and committed to working with the international community for a stable, prosperous, and sustainable future.
