DNHN - LEGO Group has established a recruitment office in the Vietnamese province of Binh Duong in preparation for the opening of a children's toy factory in 2019.
Mr. Edward Lewin, vice chairman of LEGO Group, disclosed this information during a recent meeting with leaders of Binh Duong province.
Mr. Edward Lewin stated at the meeting that the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee and other departments and agencies have fulfilled their commitment to complete land procedures in preparation for the corporation's next steps in implementing the project

Even though the land procedures have been completed, not all construction and connection procedures for power stations have been implemented. Mr. Edward Lewin hoped that the province of Binh Duong would continue to support the swift completion of the construction permit procedure and connection of the 110kV power station.
Mr. Edward Lewin reported that LEGO has now established an office in the province of Binh Duong to recruit personnel and workers in preparation for the factory's operation next year.
Regarding the LEGO Group's concerns, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, stated that the province had completed the land use rights procedures in March 2023.
After the Ministry of Public Security evaluates and approves fire prevention and suppression, investors will complete construction permit procedures at the Management Board of industrial zones in the province of Binh Duong.
The construction of the LEGO Group's children's toy factory began on November 3, 2022, in VSIP III Industrial Park, Binh Duong. According to the plan, the project's total investment exceeds $1.3 billion, and the plant is scheduled to begin operations in June 2024.
In this project, the LEGO Group will operate its first carbon-neutral plant, which will be powered by a solar farm using renewable energy.
Simultaneously, the provincial government of Binh Duong expeditiously completed the procedure for granting work permits to enable LEGO's foreign experts to work here.
LEGO Group hopes that Binh Duong province will assist businesses in deploying their projects as soon as possible for matters such as connecting to the 110kv power grid, deploying solar energy, and evaluating technical designs for fire prevention and fighting.
The provincial government will assist businesses in submitting proposals to the Ministry of Public Safety, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Southern Power Corporation to expedite the evaluation of fire prevention and fighting, and to connect the factory to the grid.
Binh Duong was chosen as the location of the group's second factory in Asia for the following reasons: "Firstly, Vietnam's highly skilled human resources are available; secondly, the Vietnamese government's strong commitment to becoming a zero-emission country; and thirdly, the good relationship between the two countries."
After 11 months after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between LEGO Group and Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park, the project began (VSIP). Therefore, one of LEGO's requirements for VISP is the construction of an adjacent solar power farm to serve the factory's operations.

As a result of a young population and a high birthrate, an Asian market is a place where LEGO sales are increasing and where future growth potential exists. LEGO's global sales have increased steadily over the past five years, with a 27% increase to $7.44 billion in 2017.
LEGO is a Danish toy manufacturer that began as a family workshop specializing in the production of wooden toys. After 90 years, LEGO is a multinational corporation with six factories and one of the world's largest toy manufacturers.
