DNHN - Vinamilk was acknowledged for its long-standing support of the Vietnam Stature Milk Fund project in addition to winning the Human Act Prize for its Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 action programme.
The Human Act Prize 2023 Community Action Award recognised people and organisations that have improved society through notable community initiatives and projects that have a long-lasting and sustainable impact, following nearly four months of organisation with the participation of over 130 meaningful projects.
With its Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 action programme, Vinamilk was the only organisation to win two awards, including the Human Act Prize, the largest and most important category. Vinamilk's initiatives and efforts to minimise the effects of climate change through sustainable development are acknowledged with this distinction.
After 16 years of achieving the goal of "For every child to drink milk every day," the Vietnam Stature Milk Fund initiative was also recognised in the Sustainable Initiative group.
Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 - From a global commitment to specific, practical actions
Vietnam is ranked sixth most vulnerable to climate change in the world. Vietnam continues to be the country with the fastest-growing greenhouse gas emissions in the world, having increased fourfold this century per person.
Vinamilk recognises that sustainable development is essential to raising the standard of living and health of the Vietnamese people while protecting priceless resources for coming generations. The company is always looking for ways to reduce its negative effects on the environment and make better use of the resources and energy it uses for production and operations.
Vinamilk's action programme, Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050, exemplifies the company's commitment to sustainable development over the long term. One of Vinamilk's four strategic priorities for the 2022–2026 timeframe is sustainable development, which aims to preserve the environment and provide customers with additional benefits. The corporation affirms through the programme that it will continue to lead the way and work with the government to fulfil the Net Zero 2050 pledge and the "National Strategy on Climate Change to 2050."
The Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 action programme centres around four essential facets across the sustainable value chain of the organisation. As a result, there is a precise and organised roadmap with three benchmarks for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Vinamilk is the first dairy firm in Vietnam to receive the PAS2060:2014 standard certification for carbon neutrality for both its production and farm. This accomplishment stems from a "double action" that Vinamilk took to cut emissions in cattle farming and production while also keeping a green fund to absorb greenhouse gases over an extended period.
"The Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 project demonstrates Vinamilk's proactive commitment to and practice of sustainable development," stated Mr Tran Quang Trung, Chairman of the Vietnam Dairy Association. The project is moving forward thanks to its well-defined focal areas and strategy, which improve project management. Leading businesses like Vinamilk are driving the Net Zero trend in the Vietnamese dairy sector.
"Receiving the most prestigious award at the Human Act Prize programme, Vinamilk believes that the company's greatest success is conveying the message and spirit of striving to minimise and combat the impacts of climate change to the community," said Ms Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, Director of Vinamilk Hanoi Branch, during the award ceremony. By doing this, we also hope to convey to people and organisations who are encountering obstacles in their efforts to achieve sustainable development that they should not waver from their goals, as Net Zero will be essential to a sustainable way of life."
Vietnam Stature Milk Fund - 16 years of improving nutrition for future generations
The Organising Committee determined that the Vietnam Stature Milk Fund was the biggest and most long-lasting children's initiative in Vietnam. To provide milk to children in need, the Vietnam Stature Milk Fund's trucks have been travelling from Ha Giang, the country's northernmost point, to Ca Mau, its southernmost point, regularly for the past 16 years. There has also been a tonne of smiles and affection during these 16 years.
"The innocent smiles of the children when they drink milk are a great joy, motivating Vinamilk to continue on its dedicated and humane journey," said Ms Nguyen Thi Minh Tam.
The Vietnam Stature Milk Fund programme, which has as its objective "For every child to drink milk every day," has given over 42 million wholesome milk cartons to unfortunate and underprivileged children in 63 provinces and towns around the country. The support value in its entirety is 200 billion Vietnamese Dong.
The programme has also helped to increase public awareness of the value of good eating, living a healthy lifestyle, and providing a platform for achieving goals and inspiring the next generation to achieve greatness.
It might be argued that Vinamilk's dedication to the community has remained constant throughout its growth. To ensure the efficacy and sustainability of its projects, the organisation consistently looks for and develops new community-based initiatives that are in line with social development and change. It also allocates resources to maintain its current initiatives. The two projects, Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050 and the Vietnam Stature Milk Fund are regarded as excellent examples of community-oriented initiatives that have had a significant positive influence on society. They are backed by the commitment and efforts of the top dairy firm.
