DNHN - The Economic Committee and agencies held a press conference on the Vietnam Socio-Economic Forum 2023 programme with the theme of enhancing endogenous capacity and fostering motivation for growth and development on September 17 in the morning.
The forum will be held on September 19 and will centre on the exchange and discussion of four primary content groups.
International context and new challenges for the global economy:
Within the context of international change, the Forum will analyse international tensions and conflicts, as well as epidemic trends. Vietnam may be affected by economic shifts. In addition, this event will discuss the new challenges confronting the global economy in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The economic situation of Vietnam in 2023 and the period 2021-2023:
The forum will comprehensively and objectively assess Vietnam's economic situation in 2023 and the 3 years from 2021 to 2023. The Discussion The discussion will centre on identifying impediments to economic and social development, including input-output markets, investment, export, and consumption. Particular focus will be placed on aspects such as the financial and monetary market and the real estate market.
- Orientation of space and development potential:
The forum will focus on identifying and proposing space and development potential for the Vietnamese economy. The necessary growth-promoting and resource-generating forces will be discussed and proposed.
Policies and solutions to liberate resources:
The final discussion will centre on proposing specific policies and solutions to liberate resources and inspire economic growth. Some perspectives on extending the VAT reduction and modifying the personal income tax will be discussed to ensure that they provide adequate economic support.
In response to why the forum topic was selected, the chairman of the Economic Committee, Vu Hong Thanh, stated that the organisation of the Socio-Economic Forum in 2023 is determined by two significant connotations. After more than two years of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the first implication is to identify the internal issues and bottlenecks in the economy. The need to eliminate bottlenecks and find sustainable development solutions is urgent.
The second meaning is to discover and generate new motivation to foster economic growth in the present context. Mr. Vu Hong Thanh believes that Vietnam's economic outlook remains bright despite global economic challenges and risks.
The significance of this forum is heightened by the fact that Vietnam's economy has achieved positive results, such as inflation control and economic balance, and continues to seek ways to maintain and grow sustainably.
