The conclusion of the domestic agricultural forecast is spectacular.

DNHN - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) reported that after three quarters of the year, the export value of agricultural products reached nearly 38.5 billion US dollars, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2022.

During the first nine months of 2023, the export growth rates of certain products are exceptional. Specifically, fruit and vegetable exports reached 4.2 billion USD, an increase of 71.8% compared to the same period last year; cashew nut exports reached 2.61 billion USD, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period last year; and coffee exports reached 3.16 billion USD, an increase of 1.9% compared to the same period last year.

In the first nine months of 2023, exports of rice products reached 3.66 billion USD, an increase of 40.4% compared to the same period the previous year; rice export output reached 6.6 million tonnes; rice price per tonne increased by 14% to 553 USD. With the results achieved, it is anticipated that export rice production will surpass last year's total (7.13 million tonnes) and reach 7.8 million tonnes worth over USD 4 billion.

If this growth momentum is maintained until the end of the year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Prime Minister's export target of 54 to 55 billion USD for the agricultural sector in 2023 can be met.

However, one of the current concerns of the agricultural sector is that there are still shipments that violate the codes of growing regions and packaging facilities. Statistics show that in the first eight months of 2023 alone, 370 shipments of bananas, mangoes, dragon fruits, durians, and jackfruit were detected as warnings, all of which were associated with the planting area codes and packaging facilities of thirteen provinces. These violations can jeopardize the market share of Vietnam's vital export industries.

Along with quality control, in recent days, Iceland has just sent a warning to the European Union (EU) notification system for exported plant-based food products. Vietnam violates food safety laws.

Previously, the Vietnam Trade Office in the United Kingdom also noted that some supermarkets (Waitrose, Whole Foods) in the United Kingdom had ceased selling Vietnamese dragon fruit in favor of Spanish or Cambodian dragon fruit.

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) intend to propose that Vietnamese dragon fruit be moved to Appendix II (the product must be tested and issued a certificate of safety in Vietnam). South before being distributed on the market).
