DNHN - The application of science and high technology to agricultural production has been an inevitable trend to create a breakthrough for the sustainable development of Vietnam's agriculture in general and Thanh Hoa province in particular.
Based on promoting research and application of science and technology, the province of Thanh Hoa has recently directed the promotion of the growth of key agricultural products, organic agriculture, and circular agriculture. Therefore, the agricultural industry has evolved in the direction of increasing added value and sustainable development; has comparative advantages and competitiveness compared to other agricultural products on the market; has potential in terms of scale and growth rate; Attracting investment resources to create concentrated commodity production areas, applying science and technology, and enhancing product competitiveness along the value chain.
Together with farmers, forming large-scale production areas and being an important link in production chains, linking the consumption of key agricultural products has facilitated the signing of agreements by cooperatives. Contracts link the production and consumption of key products with businesses that process and add value to agricultural products. It is estimated that the linked model's production efficiency is 20 to 50 percent higher than conventional production. The application of advanced science and technology enables cooperatives to reduce costs and increase efficiency on the same land area, to produce high-tech agricultural value chains in conjunction with the development of sustainable agricultural models, thereby generating substantial income for the populace.
According to the report summarising the work in 2022 and implementing the plan for 2023 in the Agriculture and Rural Development sector of Thanh Hoa province 2022, the agricultural industry in Thanh Hoa province will experience a favorable development in 2022, accompanied by a significant price increase. Production value is estimated to be 3.65%, the highest ever; total production value (actual price) is 66,280 billion VND (ranked ninth nationally); agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports reached 321.6 million USD and were present in more than 30 countries and territories.
Regarding the development of high-tech, large-scale commodity agriculture, Thanh Hoa has approved and promulgated 12 key agricultural products that will be the focus of investment and growth. To date, large-scale agricultural production concentrations have been established. 150,000 hectares of intensive rice area, 20,000 hectares of intensive maize area, 14,300 hectares of raw sugarcane area, 13,500 hectares of raw cassava area... built 1,295 food supply chains safe products...
In the future, the Agriculture sector of Thanh Hoa province will continue to maintain the objective of restructuring agriculture along 3 key product axes associated with transforming the growth model and building new rural areas, aiming to build ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilized farmers, and developing production towards large goods with productivity, high quality, safety, and efficiency. The application of advanced science and technology in production aids in lowering costs and enhancing productivity in the same area.
Nevertheless, based on a consensus, Thanh Hoa still faces numerous challenges in conducting research and applying science and technology, particularly high technology in agricultural production. In several locales, High-Tech Agriculture (HNCNC) does not meet its potential for a variety of reasons, such as the limited production level of workers, which limits access to science and technology. techniques, in particular in mountainous regions. To invest in the development of high-tech agriculture, substantial funds for infrastructure construction, soil environmental treatment, investment in plant varieties, livestock, and worker training are required.
Currently, the agricultural product consumption market is unstable, and the competitiveness and production efficiency of some high-tech agricultural products are not commensurate with investment. Additionally, households, cooperatives, and businesses have not proactively sought out markets for their products. In addition, the development of high-tech agricultural production models faces difficulties in accumulating and concentrating land due to people's fear of losing it, which prevents them from leasing it to businesses and production households despite their lack of need. need to use or a temporary rental. Difficulties in gaining access to loans to expand production scale; demand forecasting and market information have not been implemented systematically.
In addition to actively building brands for typical local agricultural products to facilitate product consumption, localities must implement solutions to eliminate barriers. that businesses and individuals investing in high-tech agricultural production face to replicate the model and bring high economic efficiency to people and businesses, with an emphasis on land concentration; Access to preferential loans and state support policies to encourage businesses, cooperatives, and households to invest in high-tech agricultural production. Enhance the quality of human resources; Carry out effectively the research, selection, transfer, and application of scientific and technical advances and new technological processes in production, particularly food processing and preservation technology.
To date, 77 export growing area codes have been certified in Thanh Hoa province. The entire province developed approximately 5,000 hectares of high-tech agricultural production land with vegetables, sugarcane, and fruit trees. 80 agricultural cooperatives in the province utilize advanced technology in their production, and many agricultural products have earned three and four stars from the provincial OCOP. Numerous businesses and cooperatives use QR codes to aid consumers in tracing the date, month of production, expiration date, and country of origin of agricultural products using their smartphones.
Quang Xuong district has established many high-tech agricultural production areas associated with product consumption, including High-quality rice material production area, with an area of over 550 hectares in the communes of Quang Van, Quang Hoa, Quang Hop, Quang Ngoc, Quang Nhan, Quang Long, and Quang Yen...
Muong Lat, Quan Son, Quan Hoa, Ba Thuoc, Lang Chanh, Thuong Xuan, and Nhu Xuan districts promote the development of grass-fed livestock (buffaloes, beef cattle, goats) and specialty livestock (Co Lung ducks, blue-necked ducks, black pigs, hill chickens...), gradually forming and developing a biosafety, high-tech, environmentally friendly livestock farm associated with an abattoir., processing and consuming In conjunction with establishments, the districts of Cam Thuy, Ngoc Lac, Thach Thanh, and Nhu Thanh promote concentrated, large-scale livestock development, ensuring biosecurity, applying advanced technology, and being environmentally conscious., factory slaughtering, processing, deep processing, and product consumption, environmental protection.
Localities in the province are currently encouraging cooperatives, businesses, and individuals to continue promoting the application of 4.0 technology in agricultural production, gradually shifting their focus from Agricultural export to the agricultural economy, which aims to increase the income value per unit of cultivated area, thereby contributing to an increase in people's income and fostering the growth of the local agricultural sector.
