Tay Ninh concentrates on attracting investments to high-tech agriculture

DNHN - Recent events in Ho Chi Minh City included the "Forum connecting businesses to invest and develop a high-tech agricultural ecosystem in Tay Ninh province 2023" programme. Tay Ninh is administered by the province's People's Committee.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien and executives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development attended the Forum. Mr Daniel Stork, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, was also present at the Forum.
Mr Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Tay Ninh, stated that the province has identified four strategic breakthroughs. Specifically, the development of high-tech agriculture along the value chain is one of the significant breakthroughs contributing to accelerating the process of restructuring the agricultural and rural economy towards multi-value integration, inclusiveness, and sustainable development so that Tay Ninh farmers can make a living and become wealthy from agriculture.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Phung Duc Tien, also provided an objective evaluation of agriculture in Tay Ninh. Natural conditions in Tay Ninh are particularly conducive to the growth of an agricultural economy and a variety of industries. These are the conditions under which Tay Ninh can maximise its potential and advantages and essentially become a high-tech agricultural province. Tay Ninh must focus on solutions such as the development of science and technology, training and increasing the quality of human resources, market development and support services, the propagation of high-tech agricultural production, and administrative reform to promote these strengths.
"The task posed to Tay Ninh province shortly will require the combined efforts and resolve of the entire political system, as well as the effective exploitation and use of the province's resources, particularly its natural resources. According to Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien, investment from the private sector and foreign direct investment is required.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA) Vu Manh Hung stated, "The forum's primary purpose is for government agencies, policymakers, and executives to meet and converse. with local and international organisations, associations, experts, and businesses on critical issues in the agricultural development strategy of Vietnam and Tay Ninh in the direction of digitalization and sustainability."
From the success and knowledge acquired through collaboration with EuroCham members. This connection will hopefully attract more international investors to Tay Ninh, particularly European companies. With their technology, experience, and strong financial potential, EuroCham businesses will effectively invest in Tay Ninh, contributing to the sustainable transformation of the local rural landscape.
As a co-organizer of the Forum, the new President of EuroCham, Gabor Fluit, remarked, "Tay Ninh has a strategic position in the Southern Key Economic Zone and serves as a gateway to the Cambodian market. When the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai motorway is operational, Tay Ninh will play an even more significant role in the future. Due to its abundant land resources, Tay Ninh offers numerous attractive investment opportunities, including agribusiness ventures, high-value crops, aquaculture, food processing, and large-scale livestock production. However, the current challenge for Tay Ninh's agricultural industry is to develop sustainably, adhere to green standards, and satisfy the import requirements of the EVFTA and the EU.
According to Mr Gabor Fluid, quality human resources, cutting-edge technology, and solid finances are required to meet the aforementioned criteria. These are the eligibility requirements for EuroCham investors. Tay Ninh can increase exports to a market of more than 500 million people and become the country's leader in the application of advanced technology to the manufacturing industry with the investment of European companies.
At the forum, cooperation memorandums of understanding were signed between the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province and organisations and businesses, including a memorandum of cooperation on the implementation of digital technology between the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, VIDA, and EuroCham. agricultural products in Tay Ninh, a memorandum of understanding between the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, De Heus Group (Netherlands), and Hung Nhon Group on survey, research, and investment in a variety of applied agriculture initiatives. Accordingly, Hung Nhon intends to invest approximately 2,500 billion VND in high-tech agriculture-related construction projects. The project comprises a high-tech livestock application complex, a high-tech agricultural cultivation area, a livestock slaughtering and processing factory, an animal feed material area, and a breeding research centre.
Memorandum of Understanding regarding cooperation between the Provincial People's Committee of Tay Ninh and the BAF Vietnam Agriculture Joint Stock Company in the implementation of the livestock processing and production complex project in Tay Ninh province. The enterprise has an annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes of meat and a total investment of 600 billion Vietnamese Dong.
Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) in implementing the proposal for a dairy factory and farm complex in Tay Ninh province. The project has a total investment of VND 1.5 trillion, which includes a milk processing facility with an annual capacity of 36 million litres and the No. 2 dairy farm with 8,000 cows.
According to Deputy Minister Tien, the task facing Tay Ninh province shortly necessitates the concerted efforts and determination of the entire political system, as well as the collaborative exploitation and effective use of the province's resources, particularly private sector investment resources and FDI.
"This is an excellent opportunity for sponsors and investors to exchange information, explore opportunities, promote cooperation, and invest in the business, particularly in areas with a great deal of untapped profit potential. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien shared at the Forum that investors will benefit and Tay Ninh will develop rapidly and sustainably.
