Mr. Maciej Duszynski, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Poland in Vietnam shared the favorable opportunities that are coming in the bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and investment between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam. For many years now, the EU has become the second largest export market of Vietnam and Vietnam is also an important trading partner of the EU. As a result, the traditional cooperation relationship between Poland and Vietnam has not stopped developing in all aspects. In particular, the exchange of agricultural products and food between the two countries has made many important impressions when leaders of ministries and branches have many times directly met and exchanged cooperation plans.

Sharing more about the bilateral trade values of the two countries, Mr. Piotr Harasimowcz, Chief Representative of the Office of the Polish Trade and Investment Department in Vietnam, said: “The EVFTA Agreement has eliminated more than 99% of taxes on imports and exports. trade goods of the two sides as soon as they take effect from August 1, 2020, and can help Vietnam's GDP and export growth up to 2.4%.

Moreover, Vietnam is not only located in the vibrant market area of Asia but also a country with good infrastructure for commercial development. In addition, Vietnam has a stable economic and political situation, has been integrating more and more deeply into the global economy, was recognized as one of the most successful countries in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a good opportunity for Vietnam to open up the market, attract investment, create a long-term and sustainable development momentum and promote the growth of the economy.

In order to fully exploit the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Vietnam needs to quickly complete import licensing procedures for beef, pork, chicken, fish and blueberries and canned fruits into Vietnam.

According to Mr. Piotr Harasimowcz, Vietnam is an important consumer of Polish agricultural products and food. In 2021 alone, the export turnover of Polish agricultural products and foodstuffs to Vietnam has reached more than 143 million euros.

In particular, Poland is one of the countries with the strongest development in the field of commercial business with Vietnam. From August 2020 to May 2021, the export of goods from Poland to Vietnam increased by 21.5%, the import of goods from Vietnam to Poland increased by 26% over the same period last year.

The Polish Department of Investment and Trade said that it will actively support export businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to connect with local companies and organizations. At the same time, the Polish Department of Investment and Trade also focuses on providing economic and trade information on foreign markets, as well as providing foreign investors with information on conditions and regulations. manage business operations in Poland.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, branch in Ho Chi Minh City, analyzed that Vietnam and Poland are both countries with strengths in this field, but the products of both sides are basically do not compete directly but effectively support each other.

Poland currently has a great demand for products belonging to Vietnam's export strengths such as rice, pangasius, basa fish, shrimp, mango products, pineapple, passion fruit, coffee, cashew nuts...

In contrast, Poland can provide Vietnam with many items such as fresh and processed foods, fresh and canned fruits, concentrated fruit extracts, beef, lamb, pork... of high quality, manufactured according to EU standards.

With many years of experience in developing high-tech agriculture, Vietnam can learn from Poland's experience to improve agricultural technology including investing in specialized agriculture, fertilizers and machinery.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam, the trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Poland have made significant progress, but are still not commensurate with the development potential of the two sides. One of the main barriers is the lack of information about each other's markets.

Therefore, he encouraged the Polish business delegation's regular participation in international fairs and exhibitions in Vietnam, which would be a very effective advertising channel to introduce Poland's image and products and services to Vietnamese consumers and businesses, and at the same time is a good opportunity for businesses of both sides to update market information and seek new cooperation opportunities.

Currently, the benefits of the EVFTA agreement for trade relations between the two countries are increasingly evident. Vietnam hopes Poland will continue to support the EU's early ratification of the Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) as well as the early removal of the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood products. This will certainly have a positive impact to help raise the level of trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Poland to new heights.
