The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Job Fair will meet the urgent needs of the workforce today regarding employment in the tourism sector, widely promoting to the freelance workforce who are looking for jobs related to the tourism service industry in the city.

In the first months of 2024, the tourism industry has strongly recovered, with both the number of visitors and revenue increasing, specifically over 1 million international visitors to the city, an increase of over 33.5% compared to the same period in 2023, the number of domestic tourists to Ho Chi Minh City also increased sharply with over 5 million, an increase of over 10.2% compared to the same period in 2023. With the above positive signals, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry sets a target of welcoming about 6 million international visitors, 38 million domestic visitors, and an estimated total tourism revenue of 190,000 billion VND this year 2024.

To achieve the above results, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry must continuously improve service quality and innovate products to attract tourists to Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, the improved service quality is due to the human factor, especially the tourism human resources must meet the increasingly demanding and discerning needs of tourists. Faced with that requirement, tourism human resources must meet the requirements in terms of qualifications, expertise and foreign languages as well as other skills such as communication, customer care, teamwork, etc.

However, the reality shows that there is still a lack of close coordination between the tourism human resource providers (tourism training institutions) and the recruiting units (tourism service businesses) in training and recruitment so that both parties benefit and reduce costs in retraining staff when recruiting. Therefore, the highlight of this year’s Job Fair is the participation of universities training in tourism to sign contracts with tourism service businesses, final-year university students and demobilised soldiers participating in the Fair to find jobs that match their qualifications and abilities. This is also a meaningful activity to connect businesses and tourism training institutions, supporting businesses in recruiting high-quality labour through the freelance workforce.

“This is considered an activity, an event to closely connect tourism service businesses with tourism training institutions in Ho Chi Minh City, and is also one of the solutions to timely support tourism service businesses in finding high-quality human resources that are currently lacking in the unit. At the same time, it is an opportunity for tourism training institutions to approach the tourism industry’s labour market to orientate the training of high-quality human resources according to the increasingly demanding and competitive labour market needs of the industry,” said Ms Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism.
