Nearly 1,000 businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have announced Tet bonus plans

DNHN - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs is coordinating with relevant agencies to encourage businesses to announce the plans for salary payments, bonuses, employee support and holiday time at least 20 days ahead of Tet.

Ms Tran Le Thanh Truc, Head of the Labour and Occupational Safety Division, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, announced the plan to monitor the salary and bonus payment situation during the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday for businesses in the city during the periodic socio-economic press conference on the afternoon of December 21.

The Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City is working with appropriate organisations to encourage companies to provide at least 20 days' notice when announcing their plans for holiday time, bonuses, employee support, and salary payments. Ensuring that salaries and bonuses are paid in full and on schedule following the prearranged plan is the goal.

Ms Truc also disclosed that a direct survey team would be assembled to tour 20 companies that are having trouble paying Tet bonuses and salaries, particularly those that have terminated workers or run the risk of not having enough money for social insurance, wages, or bonuses. To get a better understanding of the wage payment situation for this year and the Tet bonus plan for 2024, the Department will also poll 3,000 firms.

Survey teams have also been formed by the management boards of industrial parks, export processing zones, and the Thu Duc City People's Committee to examine the conditions surrounding wage payments at 20 companies that fall under their purview.

Ms Truc also discussed ways to provide care for workers during Tet, estimating that a budget of almost VND71 billion would be allocated to supporting roughly 139,000 complex situations. Simultaneously, the Department will persist in overseeing the labour and employment landscape and putting policies into place to stabilise labour relations and foster the relationship between employers and job searchers.
