DNHN - Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat expressed his hope that professors and scientists would share their experiences with Vietnamese scientists to jointly research and resolve global concerns such as energy, climate change, etc.

On December 18, in Hanoi, scientists led by Dr. Le Thai Ha, CEO of VinFuture Foundation, received by Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat.
Minister Huynh Thanh Dat welcomed the delegation to the Ministry of Science and Technology and stated that this is a crucial premise that will set the stage for future collaboration and long-term relationships between VinFuture, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the world's top professors and scientists.
The Minister anticipated that the professors would share their experiences in developing science and technology in the nations where they are working. The Minister reviewed various policies on science, technology, and innovation in Vietnam, with professors and scientists.
The Minister reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to investing in innovation, research, and technology. Two national policies are mentioned: education and training, and science and technology. The Science and Technology and Innovation Strategy to 2030, which identifies priority orientations in science, technology, and innovation, has been approved by the prime minister. The strategy focuses on global issues like renewable energy, green energy, climate change adaptation, and fourth industrial revolution technologies.

The Minister claims that the Ministry of Science and Technology has implemented science and technology activities through the network of national science and technology programmes, funded by the National Science and Technology Development Fund, and prioritised projects for the Mekong Delta region, the major economic area most impacted by rising sea levels and climate change, to successfully implement the Strategy.
In addition, Vietnam has conducted extensive scientific research and technology development activities in the fields of green energy, renewable energy, technologies to adapt to climate change, and creating livelihoods for people to adapt to climate change. These activities include researching crop varieties and livestock breeds that are salt- and drought-tolerant, as well as researching AI technology to forecast natural disasters like storms, floods, and landslides on river banks and seashores to prevent them in advance. The goal is to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
Minister Huynh Thanh Dat underlined, "These global issues need to be addressed based on science, technology, and innovation."
The Minister shared with the world's top academics and scientists the challenges facing the country, including a lack of funding and technology. He also expressed his hope that these individuals would share their knowledge and work with Vietnamese scientists to create collaborative long-term research projects to address global issues like energy and climate change. This would allow Vietnam to make significant advances in science and technology, which will support the country's efforts to develop sustainable socioeconomic development.
The scientists discussed their experiences and strategies at the reception for resolving global issues, advancing science, technology, and innovation in Vietnam, including creating generative artificial intelligence (AI), investing in the education of highly skilled human resources in science and technology, creating solar power generation, encouraging the use of renewable energy sources, manufacturing batteries for use in the economy, advancing laser research, promoting the preservation of the ozone layer, battling climate change, etc.
The scientists said that they are prepared to work with Vietnam to address global concerns, advance innovation and research, and support long-term socioeconomic growth in Vietnam.
