The business community's "pocket treasured book"
The "Guidelines for the Official Export of Vegetables and Fruits to the Chinese Market" is a "pocketbook" prepared and distributed by the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) immediately after the Chinese market officially opened the door to import durian from Vietnam.

As a result, the target audience for this "pocketbook" is localities, industry groups, enterprises, and producers participating in the production chain, specifically exporting vegetables and fruits and agricultural goods in general to the Vietnam-Chinese market.
This manual covers a wide range of topics and concerns concerning the large Chinese market, with a focus on the benefits and drawbacks of cross-border export operations and how to carry them out following government laws.
Furthermore, the guide covers the fundamentals of commodity standards, packaging, transactions and contracts, delivery conditions, payment methods, traceability, plant quarantine... and many other considerations when legally exporting to the Chinese market.
Localities, industry associations, businesses, and producers involved in the production and export chain of vegetables and fruits in particular, and agricultural products in general, will find a wealth of information to help them transform cross-border production and export activities into official forms; overcome existing weaknesses, create motivation to improve product quality, and fully meet the requirements and technical standards.
Many enterprises and cooperatives are overjoyed and eager to begin formally exporting durian to the Chinese market. According to Ms Tran Thi Huong, Director of Tan Khang Agricultural Trade Service Cooperative (Dak Lak), there are now 400 members with an area of more than 500 hectares of durian. Because of the extremely high-quality criteria, high-end markets like the United States, Korea, and Japan... do not eat a considerable quantity of Vietnamese durian. As a result, China remains a market with significant production potential for cooperatives.
China has been given a "visa" for Vietnamese durian.
Previously, on July 11, 2022, durian fruit from Vietnam was formally shipped to China through official channels. This is the end conclusion of over four years of negotiations.

The Protocol on phytosanitary standards for durian fruits shipped from Vietnam to China was signed on July 11, 2022, by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Department of Customs of China, and it was renewed for three years. As a result, the General Administration of Customs of China will enable Vietnamese durian to be imported via all of China's border crossings.
This outcome has sparked interest among cooperatives and durian-growing firms. However, this is merely the first outcome; in the long run, much more effort is required to sustain this prospective market.
However, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development highlighted that the Protocol on Official Durian Export is not a guarantee that Vietnamese durians would be sent to China.

Durian is becoming more popular across the globe. China's demand for durian is growing; the nation imports over 600,000 tons each year, and this figure is expected to rise to more than one million tons in the future years. Thailand accounts for up to 95 per cent of durian imports into China.
On July 11, the Vietnamese side delivered three copies of the Protocol in three languages (Chinese, English, and Vietnamese) to the General Department of Customs of China, along with a list of the planting area code bases and the Packing list for the General Administration of Customs of China to review, approve, and update on the official website before the first shipment is officially exported to this market.
In addition, the Plant Protection Department will submit a sample of the Export Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the Protocol for the General Administration of Customs of China to compare when consignments from Vietnam arrive at seaports or customs clearing customs at the road border gate.
