Creating a steering committee for high-speed rail research and investment.

DNHN - The High-speed Railway Investment Research Steering Committee will investigate and recommend investment projects for high-speed railways along the North-South axis and national railways.

Through Document No. 5272/VPCN-CN, the Government Office conveyed to the Minister of Transport the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, requesting the formation of a Working Group to develop an investment policy project. On the north-south axis, a high-speed rail line.

Vice Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will lead the Steering Committee according to the decision. Other members include the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Planning and Investment, and the Minister of Transport.

The Steering Committee will be assisted by an expert Working Group in the field of rail transport. This working group will gather information, analyze data, and recommend specific policies.

Earlier, the Minister of Transport proposed the formation of a Working Group to develop a North-South high-speed railway investment project. This working group will be responsible for directing the process of developing investment policy proposals and providing the government and the National Assembly with reliable reports.

The Steering Committee will collaborate with the State Appraisal Council and international experts to ensure the objectivity and independence of the research procedure. Simultaneously, the Board will also consult the experiences of nations with established high-speed rail systems, such as Europe and China.

The North-South high-speed rail project was initiated in 2019 and is currently undergoing a feasibility study. This project aims to construct a 350km/h double-track electrified using distributed dynamics technology. In addition, the project proposes the construction of passenger and cargo stations along the route to increase people's flexibility and convenience.

The decision to establish a steering committee for high-speed rail research and investment is a crucial step in advancing the nation's transport infrastructure. It is anticipated that research and implementation of national railway projects will significantly contribute to the improvement of connectivity and socioeconomic growth.
