DNHN - The National Wage Council has recently decided to submit a proposal to the Prime Minister for approval to raise the regional minimum wage by 6%, effective July 1.

National Wage Council held its second meeting this morning, led by Mr Le Van Thanh, the Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs. Mr Le Van Thanh is also the Chairman of the National Wage Council. They are still talking about and negotiating the regional minimum wage increase for employees of businesses.

The National Wage Council accepted and closed the proposal to raise the regional minimum wage by 6% beginning July 1, 2022, for submission to the government for discussion and determination. This is also the sole alternative to a secret vote offered by the National Wage Council.

The 6% increase obtained an agreement from 17/17 members; the period of increase from 1/7/2022 received consensus from 15/17 members; and 2/7 members agreed to the period of increase from 1/1/2023.

Region I saw a 260,000 VND increase, Region II saw a 240,000 VND increase, Region III saw a 210,000 VND increase, and Region IV saw a 180,000 VND increase.

Before that, the closest regional minimum wage was VND 4.42 million on January 1, 2020, for Region I; 3.92 million for Region II; 3.42 million for Region III; and 3.07 million for Region IV.
