DNHN - Vinamilk, with the cluster of Vinamilk Da Lat Dairy Farms, was one of three great firms granted the Award for its sustainable development plan and well-executed environmental protection action initiatives. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has launched Vietnam Environment 2021.
The Vietnam Environment Award is the most prestigious environmental award, organized every two years by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to recognize organizations, individuals, and communities that have made significant contributions to the effort, intelligence, and protection of the environment. In 2021, the Council and Advisory Board decided to present the Vietnam Environment Award to 20 organizations, 10 people, 3 community groups, and so on, after two rounds of meticulous application examination from 234 applicants.
Vinamilk has received this award for many years in a row, thanks to modern plants and dairy farms that exceed international standards and perform well in environmental preservation.
Vinamilk received high praise at this year's award ceremony because, in the field of animal husbandry and agriculture, minimizing negative environmental impacts is very difficult, requiring methodical business investment and the flexibility to apply models of regenerative agriculture and circular economy to help improve the environment.
Vinamilk Dalat dairy farm cluster has three dairy farms established by GlobalG.AP and European Organic (EU Organic) standards, are capable of delivering around 8,238 tons of raw milk per year. Vinamilk Organic Dalat Farm, in particular, is Vietnam's first European organic standard farm, having opened in 2017. It presently produces 4,129 tons of organic fresh milk per year.
Vinamilk has invested in various contemporary technology to conserve the environment within and outside the farm area while encouraging sustainable development efforts and reducing negative environmental consequences.
Typically, waste management and treatment are carried out by stringent regulations. The farm collects and treats animal waste using technology imported from Europe, and it also invests in a big capacity system of biogas tanks, both of which contribute to the conversion of waste into organic fertilizer for crops and soil development.
Gas is used to heat water to pasteurize milk for calves, dry grass, and run the farm. The farm also uses Organic Carbon technology from Japan to treat odour issues in animals, with initially excellent results. The stink has been nearly eliminated.
Vinamilk Dalat Dairy Farm has also been a pioneer in the use of renewable energy technologies from its inception. The solar system provided electricity for lights and other agricultural activities. The quantity of solar electricity generated by the farm is anticipated to assist cut emissions by roughly 6,000 tons of CO2/year, which is comparable to planting 310,000 trees.By early 2022, all Vinamilk farms will be powered by solar energy.
Other programs to assist conserve soil resources and regenerating soil include legume rotation to help restore soil fertility, organic farming, and soil management software. As a result, the soil is becoming more permeable, minimizing erosion and providing a consistent and high-quality food supply for dairy cows.
The farm also creates a green biosphere by developing huge sample fields that fulfil Organic standards and growing plants that are appropriate for the temperature and soil. The verdant landscape and pure air are the obvious evidence of the farm's many years of consistently doing well in environmental preservation.
Vinamilk has defined one of the major goals as using high technology in agriculture and dairy farming in the direction of sustainable and friendly growth of the environment via a system of 13 farms scattered throughout the nation.
Aside from the farm constructed to European organic standards, Vinamilk now has three farms designed to the Green Farm ecological model, all of which are certified with "Global Good Agricultural Practices" (GlobalG.AP).
Vinamilk's efforts not only help to ensure the supply of international-grade fresh milk components but also help to advance Vietnam's agricultural and dairy farming on a more sustainable, greener path, to establish "net-zero" dairy farms shortly.
