DNHN - On July 29, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with ministries, branches, localities and industry associations to organize a "Communication conference on trade promotion with foreign markets in July 2022". This is an event in the series of programs "Communication on trade promotion with foreign markets" which is carried out monthly from July 2022 to December 2023.
At the conference, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that in the first 7 months of 2022, the world context has many complicated and unpredictable changes, especially the Russia-Ukraine conflict; strategic competition among major countries is increasingly fierce; prices of crude oil and strategic commodities and materials increased; supply chain disruptions, rising inflation in most countries, major economic partners, etc. have adversely affected many industries, fields, production and business activities and people's lives.

However, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade, with the leadership and direction in the right, the flexible and drastic direction of the Party and State leaders; the timely and effective participation of the ministries, branches and localities, along with the outstanding efforts of the business community and the people, the socio-economic situation of our country continues to prosper, achieving positive, relatively comprehensive results in all fields. GDP growth is higher than the same period in 2020, and 2021 and reached the same level as the years before the epidemic; the macro-economy continued to remain stable, inflation was controlled, and major balances of the economy were ensured.
Especially, the import and export of goods continued to have a high growth momentum with a turnover of over 435 billion USD, up 15.7% over the same period last year (in which exports increased by 16.8%) and continued to maintain a trade surplus, making positive contributions to the country's economic growth.
“Among these outstanding achievements, there is an important and positive contribution of foreign trade activities, which is directly the system of Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad in actively researching, assessing and synthesizing the situation of foreign trade. market model and new mechanisms and policies on economy, trade and investment of the host country to promptly provide information, guidance and support to localities, industry associations, and business community in promoting and introducing products and making good use of opportunities and advantages from Free Trade Agreements to which Vietnam is a member to expand, develop and diversify markets and products, boost exports", Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed.
However, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade, at present, global trade is facing many pressures due to complicated developments in the geopolitical situation and fierce strategic competition among major countries; inflation continued to rise in many major economies; The impact of the supply chain disruption in the coming time may be more serious… This leads to many consequences for import-export activities and domestic economic growth due to the large openness of our economy (over 200%).
This context requires closer and more effective connection and coordination between the system of the Vietnam Trade Office in foreign countries and ministries, branches, localities, industry associations, enterprises and manufacturers so that the parties can update and share the fastest and most accurate market information, new regulations and policies of other countries, helping industries, localities and businesses to build and adjust strategies and appropriate production plans, make the best use of opportunities to develop markets and promote exports.
Mr Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Department of Trade Promotion, assessed that the import and export situation in the first 7 months of the year had many positive signs. According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2022, import and export turnover continued to increase with a total estimated turnover of more than 435.2 billion USD. In which, export turnover of goods increased by 16.8% over the same period last year, reaching 217.73 billion USD. Import turnover of goods reached US$217.48 billion, up 14.6% over the same period last year and was well controlled. The trade balance continued to maintain a trade surplus of USD 243 million in the first 7 months of the year, positively supporting the balance of payments, and contributing to stabilizing the exchange rate and other macroeconomic indicators of the economy.
Mr Vu Ba Phu proposed to organize a monthly meeting on the last working day of the month, with the focal point being the leaders of the local Department of Industry and Trade to participate, associate and raise the desired requirements with the Vietnamese commercial affair outside the country. This is an effective exchange channel between a commercial affair with localities and businesses.
The representative of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade proposed that the overseas Vietnamese Trade Offices support the industry in trade promotion, import and export development with foreign markets, regularly having information, exchanging and updating the situation on the foreign markets, warnings to the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities to be known and promptly disseminated to businesses. At the same time, strengthen information on the import demand of goods from the foreign market to the domestic market through the Departments of Industry and Trade to connect foreign businesses, large foreign supermarket chains, and importers with domestic enterprises to bring Vietnamese goods into foreign supply chains and promote export activities.
