Mr. Phung Cong Dung holds the position of Chairman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City for 2022 – 2027

DNHN - Recently (on April 19), the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association held its third Congress of Delegates for the term 2022-2027 in Ho Chi Minh City. The Congress chose a 21-member Standing Committee, which included Mr. Phung Cong Dung, Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City, to serve as Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association from 2022 to 2027.
According to a report presented at the congress, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association's activities in Ho Chi Minh City have gotten increasingly in-depth and widespread in society over the last five years. The organisation of the Association has been consolidated and developed, and the number of members who participate has increased.
With the Covid-19 epidemic spreading over the world in 2020 and 2021, the Association has endeavoured to organise activities in a variety of ways to safeguard and preserve people-to-people diplomacy.

In addition, the Association has made a concerted effort to organise a variety of activities to assist Cambodian students studying in the city, maintain regular contact with the Cambodian Student Representative Board, and organise additional rounds of scholarship sponsorship.
Cambodian students should maintain communication with their adoptive parents. A number of units, monasteries, and the Tam Viet Doctors' Union are interested in organising to provide regular relief for the needy in Vietnam and Cambodia.
These are initiatives to organise entrepreneurs in Ho Chi Minh City's Vietnam-Cambodia Entrepreneurs Club to contribute to the construction of stone steles on Truong Sa Island, to assist in the distribution of presents to the needy and poor students, and to construct houses of love in areas.
During the 2020-2021 epidemic, the club donated 2,000 masks to Cambodian students, donated 10,000 masks and 1,000 bottles of wind oil to help the border guards of Tay Ninh province. The Vietnam - Cambodia Entrepreneurs Club actively participates in helping the poor in the border areas and poor overseas Vietnamese in Bien Ho - Cambodia with the amount of medicine, gifts... worth hundreds of billions of dong.

Simultaneously, the "Friendship Incubation" Program, which funds Cambodian kids studying in Ho Chi Minh City, has received three sponsorships for more than 40 youngsters, who meet weekly with other Cambodian students. Every 3-6 months, Cambodian personnel visit the city, raising the total number of supported Cambodian students in Vietnam to over 200.
In addition, the Association also coordinated to organize a mission to visit patients, distribute medicine to more than 2,700 people, give nearly 2,600 gifts, 4 wheelchairs to overseas Vietnamese and poor Cambodians at 3 locations Bien Ho - Siem Reap, Ba Rai district - Kongpong Thum and Phnom Penh with a value of nearly 1.4 billion VND, etc.
During the last term, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City has established 7 new branches including the Association of Former Border Guard soldiers, Vietnam - Cambodia businessman, Doctor Tam Viet, Pho Minh Pagoda, Chan Tang Ren Pagoda - Construction, Youth Union 7708 and Binh Tay Noodle Company Branch.
In the period 2022-2027, the Association has resolved to continue promoting propaganda work, particularly among young people; increase assistance for Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City; be more interested in cooperation contents, introduce investment opportunities, and promote the activities of the Vietnam - Cambodia Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City; improve the quality of social and charity work, and pay attention to the task of building the Association.
At the congress, the delegates unanimously voted 100% to elect the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2022 - 2027 with 51 people.
