DNHN - Masan Group was recently named one of the Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises 2022 (Corporate Sustainability Awards) at the Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine conference "Business Sustainability - Green Earth" in Ho Chi Minh City.
Honouring green companies and giving back to the community
This award recognizes organizations and corporations that have made significant contributions to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and social justice. The Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises 2022 were reviewed and voted on based on five primary criteria: stable growth, sustainable corporate culture, corporate governance, environmental preservation, and social responsibility. The members of the Appraisal Council are all renowned national and worldwide specialists.
Growing awareness of systemic challenges such as climate change, illness risks, resource depletion, inequality, and so on has fueled the rise of ESG or ESG criterion sustainable investing in recent years. Along with this trend, the government has implemented management policies, such as the "Program to support businesses in the private sector to do sustainable business in the period 2022-2025," to raise awareness of the private sector business community on the role, mean, and importance of sustainable business by 2025.
Aside from corporate operations, sustainable development is a key component of Masan's strategy. Masan's sustainable development projects are centred on adding value to society and helping the local community. The Group is continually exploring and leading utility trends to better the material and spiritual lives of Vietnamese people, therefore contributing to the country's overall growth.
Masan Group was recently named to Forbes Magazine's Top 50 Best Listed Companies in 2022 for the tenth time in a row, as well as to Vietnam Report's Top 50 List of Prestigious and Effective Public Companies 2022 (VIX50).
This is the "sweet fruit" of Masan's never-ending efforts in the journey of servicing customers and building companies in tandem with sustainable growth. And is the driving force behind the Group's continued creation of higher-quality products and services that contribute to the shared growth of the community, society, and country.
Masan's path to sustainable development.
Since its inception, Masan has prioritized community development and the implementation of social responsibility as part of its long-term growth strategy. The Group believes in the Doing well by doing good principle as a company working in critical sectors having a significant impact on tens of millions of Vietnamese people. Community activities, for example, are an integral component of the aim to better the material and spiritual lives of over 100 million Vietnamese.
The ethos of Vietnamese people using Vietnamese goods and retaining the retail playground for Vietnamese people is constantly preserved at WinCommerce, a retail chain that controls more than 3,000 WinMart/WinMart+ locations. On the system, the rate of Vietnamese items is consistently above 90%. Or, with MEATDeli meat products made by European chilled meat standards, the MEATDeli brand provides Vietnamese customers with world-class quality animal protein.
Masan Consumer also protects and promotes Vietnamese culinary tradition across the world through well-known brands such as fish sauce, soy sauce, instant noodles, chilli sauce, and so on. At the same time, it encourages Vietnamese firms to adapt to international norms, so enhancing the home economy's competitiveness.
Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT), one of the world's top high-tech material processing firms, is constantly concerned with environmental preservation. The firm is continually studying and creating technologies to enhance mineral and metal processing operations, as well as extending recycling activities and employing environmentally friendly products.
MHT now employs cutting-edge technology and the most advanced manufacturing line in the world, assisting in the reduction of waste and maximization of the value of natural resources, with a mineral recovery rate of more than 96%. Masan provided more than 5,450 billion VND to the state budget in the fiscal year 2021.
