DNHN - The Department of Transport said that in the first eight months of 2022, the volume of goods through the seaport reached nearly 496 million tons, up 3% over the same period in 2021.
At the August meeting of the Ministry of Transport on August 26, the Department of Transport announced very positive data from transportation activities in the first 8 months of 2022.
Accordingly, in the past eight months, the number of passengers through airports reached 76.5 million, an increase of 136% over the same period in 2021. In August, 2022 alone, passenger volume through airports estimated to reach 11.5 million visitors, up to 473% over the same period last year”, Mr. Ngoc informed.

As for other transport sectors, the Department of Transport said that in the first eight months of 2022, the volume of goods through the seaport reached nearly 496 million tons, up 3% over the same period in 2021. Particularly in August/ 2022 is estimated at 62 million tons, up 3%. In which, the volume of container cargo reached 2.13 million TEUs, up 2%.
For inland waterways, the volume of goods in the first 8 months of 2022 reached 242.5 million tons and 53.8 billion tons.km (an increase of more than 14%). The number of passengers reached 177 million and 3.3 billion passengers-kilometres (up 14%). Particularly in August 2022, passenger volume is estimated at 25.5 million passengers, up nearly 1%.
Road transport, although heavily affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, has also made positive recovery steps. Freight transport by road in the first 8 months of 2022 has grown with an increase of more than 16% for freight and more than 19% for passenger transport.
For railway, the volume of goods transported in the past 8 months is estimated at 3.9 million tons, up 3.5% and 3.04 billion tons.km, up 22.8%. The number of passengers reached 3 million, an increase of more than 143% and 1.2 billion passengers.km, an increase of 137% compared to the same period in 2021. In August, 2022 alone, the volume of goods transported by rail was estimated at 437,000 tons, up 5.9%; Cargo turnover was estimated at 332 million tons.km, up 30.5% over the same period last year.
