DNHN - In May, there were 13,4 thousand newly founded businesses across the nation, a fall of 10.9% from the previous month.
According to the General Statistics Office's report on the socioeconomic situation, the index of industrial production (IIP) in May climbed by 4 per cent compared to April and by 10.4 per cent compared to the same period last year. The processing-manufacturing industry expanded by 12.1% in the past year.
Thus, the industrial production index of the entire industry climbed by 8.3 per cent in five months over the same period (it increased by 10 per cent during the same period in 2021), with the processing and manufacturing industry increasing by 9.2 per cent (in the same period in 2021, it increased by 12.5 per cent). Regarding places, the data indicated that the industrial production index increased in 61 localities and declined in 2 localities nationwide (Tra Vinh decreased by 17.2 per cent; Ha Tinh decreased by 7.5 per cent).
In addition, the data indicated that the number of employees working in industrial firms in the country as of May 1 climbed by 1.4% compared to the same period in April and by 4.4% compared to the same period in April of the previous year.
As for the business sector, the entire nation had 13,4 thousand newly founded businesses in May, a reduction of 10.9% compared to the previous month and an increase of 15.2% over the same period. On the other side, the economy welcomed back 5,200 enterprises, a decrease of 26% and an increase of 6.4%, respectively.
In the same month, however, approximately 5,000 businesses were registered to cease operations permanently, a decrease of 7.9% and an increase of 46%, respectively. In addition, approximately 4,200 businesses were winding down and awaiting dissolution processes (an increase of 11.3% and a decrease of 1.1%), while 1,339 businesses completed dissolution procedures (up 9.1 per cent and up from 1.1 per cent respectively) 4.7 per cent).
In five months, the country as a whole had 98,600 newly founded and re-operated businesses, a 25.8 per cent increase over the same period the previous year, or an average of 19,700 businesses per month.
