Ho Chi Minh City: Deploying smart city construction and applying artificial intelligence

DNHN - Mr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Information and Communications, stated that in 2022, this unit will continue to implement the construction project transforming Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city by 2025, the digital transformation program, telecommunications infrastructure development, and digital infrastructure development, as well as research and application of.

Mr. Le Quoc Cuong said that the Department of Information and Communications will expand and complete the city's data sharing and integration platform; building digital government and promoting digital economy. In parallel with that is the development of a project to build a smart city management center in Ho Chi Minh City; the center for receiving and processing emergency information; centralized camera image monitoring system.
In 2022, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City will develop artificial intelligence applications in a number of fields such as information and communication, health, education, and traffic. In which, artificial intelligence applications will be built to monitor social networks.
In support of the effort to enhance telecommunications and digital infrastructure between 2020 and 2030, the Department of Information and Communications has expanded 3G, 4G, and 5G coverage, as well as fiber optic cables to communes, neighborhoods, and hamlets. Simultaneously, the department will advise and implement a program to assist cellphones with Internet access for low-income and disadvantaged households in the city. Aim to assist around 58,000 impoverished households.
Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications prioritize the implementation of key programs approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress and the tasks assigned by the HCM City People's Committee. Simultaneously, the department must assess the annual implementation plans as well as the term to ensure they remain realistic.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City has always placed a premium on information technology achievements, e-government development, and digital transformation, and is pleased to be the leading unit. As a result, the Department of Information and Communications must foster a sense of responsibility and work together with units to carry out the projects and objectives established. It is vital, in particular, to expedite the advancement of smart city initiatives and to coordinate the development of the digital economy.
